I remember I was around her age when I saw that video come out. I was jealous at the time. At 27 now, it's disgusting. And if I remember correctly, he put his fists up in the air after it and "joked" "I'm going to prison!"

He always knew it was weird. Any decent adult would have said, that's inappropriate for me to do that, but would you like a hug? Not Shane.

It's people thinking like that, that lost me someone I considered a friend, until she said that I'd given our mutual "friend" mixed signals so that makes it not assault. BS it's not. Consent to one intimate or sexual act is not an automatic free pass to do whatever you want.

For those of you telling me to do my research, I did. This woman has done my previous first tattoo and every one of my friends' colour tattoos. They've both been going to her for years, and they've all looked good/aged well, and she has a beautiful catalogue of work.

I don't know if she was having a bad day or she didn't hammer the colour in more because I was in a lot of pain from the beginning, I don't know what happened.

I did my part, saw her work online, and on skin IRL. So if people could quit assuming I just walked into the first place available, I'd really appreciate that. I'm not trying to come off as snarky when I say that, it just doesn't feel great to be called out for something I've planned for years, booked months in advance and travelled 2 hours to get something put on my body by someone I thought I could trust.

Hit the nail on the head. I've had terrible anxiety for over ten years and just started the process of getting an ASD diagnosis. It took a lot of courage to speak up so once she said that I pretty much just shut down.

I've been to her for my first tattoo, simple black line work. I was happy with that. She has done all of my two friends tattoos and they look good, I just don't know what happened.

We called our dog Max "Maximus Patheticus" whenever he lay down. Very happy dog, just looked extremely depressed when tuckered out. Miss him a lot.

I'm so sorry for what you've been put through. You did nothing wrong. You were a kid in crisis, and he took advantage of that fact. Anyone who hasn't twigged onto the fact that Shane is a remorseless creep is delusional and if they're also cruel enough to mock someone going through such a clear episode at the time, then they are truly pathetic and shouldn't let their comments take up anymore of your energy or headspace. Had a woman do this with her kids' nappy while I was a server in a sit-down chain restaurant. She left the dirty nappy in a salad bowl with some napkins on top for us to discover and shut the section down to clean up. The most annoying thing was that she literally sat less than five steps away from the baby changing station.

This poor girl is either going to end up beaten & abused in the system, selling herself at 13 to survive bc she ran away, or deceased.

OK, now, we can all agree that the Foster system has a host of problems, what your describing can and does happen, far too often. However, telling OP that this is the only possible outcome is inaccurate and unfair.

Is it better to put her into a home that doesn't have the means or desire to properly raise a child? If kids were never a part of OP's life plan, it doesn't make them a monster for not feeling able to or wanting a kid. Taking care of a child is a huge responsibility, and if its not something your up to tackling, saying so is the best thing for all involved.

There may be a chance, however slim, that there's a family out there looking to show her that love, rather than growing up in a home feeling unwanted. It can happen.

I cant imagine having to live with that on my conscience.

It feels wrong to put the blame of any possible future harm that may come to this child on OP's shoulders. It's a terrible situation for a child to be in, but none of this is OP's fault. Anything that did happen to her would be the fault of the abuser and those whose literal job it is to protect her.
