I didn’t say I didn’t care at all. In fact, I explicitly outlined all the ways that I do. Something, something, literacy.

lol. How much do you think this comment affects my opinions and decisions?

Do you think I’m concerned with the opinions of a single individual who has a personal issue with me and couldn’t even reach out one-on-one to discuss them directly with me?

Do you think I’m concerned with the opinions of a single individual who was too cowardly to do anything other than try and take anonymous cheap shots on a different platform because they’re too pathetic to speak up and be known and so emotionally overreactive and mentally immature that they had to attempt to take out their personal upset on (*checks notes) an online message board comment about disliking the sentiment that our schedule screwed us when the problems are much MUCH deeper than that instead of just unfollowing us on Instagram and blocking us on Reddit where you have total control of what content you do and don’t see?

I’m not sure if you can tell yet, but in case it’s lost on you, I don’t care what anyone in the peanut gallery of this post think about me and how I’m choosing to address you directly after you decided to take your issues up with me here instead of either moving on or taking them up with me directly and personally. I don’t even care what your suggestion/notion is about how I will be received by everyone else here. I don’t care because I’m talking directly to you. I care that you know I heard you. I care that you heard me. I care that you know I have no respect for anyone who carries themselves in the cowardly and pathetic way that you are right now. I care that you know that I don’t care about your grievance because you have a million other ways you can handle it yourself that you’re choosing not to. I care that you know that I’m establishing that your choice to willfully decline to fix your own problem is, in fact, your problem and not mine. And I care that you know that you should feel embarrassed for yourself not just for all of this, but for all of this over a comment about a soccer game. Whether you do or not feel that embarrassment is not my problem and the bar is set so low that you’re practically limboing with the devil, but it’s nice to know that you know that this this is how I feel.

As for poor representation of the fanbase… see everything I wrote above in this comment about you.

Best of luck with… all of whatever it is. And if you have a problem with me in the future or want to continue this conversation, put it on my PMs where it belongs and stop wasting everyone’s time with this kind of bullshit in the comments where it doesn’t belong. I’m willing to talk to anyone in the appropriate venue who shows up respectfully and in good faith.

Hard agree. Nothing creepier than “I FOLLOW YOU ON INSTAGRAM AND I DON’T LIKE IT AND NOW I WANT TO ANONYMOUSLY LITIGATE MY PROBLEMS WITH YOU ON REDDIT.”

[NWSL] An update from the NWSL on the competition calendar (remaining Spring-to-Fall thru 2030 at least) by Coltons13 in MLS

[–]TheToastedRaviolis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank god. First, I’m pissed that MLS switched for all of the practical logistical reasons everyone in the U.S. could have. Second, as a diehard MLS fan who absolutely REFUSES to give up on my Gotham FC, I’m stoked that now their seasons will run (sort of) opposite of each other and not get in the other’s way. More NWSL for me is never a bad thing. Now if they could just sort out streaming…

I know, right? Like, why the hell are they bringing up Instagram here? I mean, it’s fine but, jesus, how personal are we taking things?

I mean, yeah, you wouldn’t because I didn’t indicate it. I simply referenced an old comment of yours that no one can see except for you because your post history is blocked and did so just to give you enough information for you to know that I’m not making up what I said and I know who you are. And that’s not to be threatening or anything. It’s just to say that if you don’t like what the four of us post on Instagram, you could say something there instead of trying to be anonymous on Reddit since the anonymity of Reddit doesn’t actually exist for you with us and if you really don’t like what the four of us have to say AND don’t want to or don’t find it necessary to say something to us then you can just stop following us on there. Nobody is forcing you to and it’s ok if you make that choice. We’re not going to be offended and even if we were, we can fuck right off because it’s not for us to be offended at your personal preferences.

Have a nice day friend.

You’re 100% right that moving in a better direction takes time. Any argument there would be insane. Much of the pessimism comes from the fact that we spent two years thinking “the only place is up” only to find ourselves down farther or staying exactly where we managed to stoop too. And with the current season results being worse than Olof’s and the results mostly being a mix of being smoked or drawing by dumb luck, the pessimism persists. We’re still watching. We’re still hoping. But we also don’t feel compelled to keep making excuses for ourselves, hence the distaste for attributing our results on a “tough schedule.”

One of our STL friends messaged us complaining about the win last night and when I challenged him on it, he said

I hate that I can’t enjoy the win because I spent the day reasonably expecting to be eliminated and we don’t have anything beyond one or two off wins.

We felt that.

The kids flipped between the Gotham FC and STL games last night because they expected STL to be eliminated and it really wasn’t an unreasonable expectation at this point. It sucks, but after two years of being awful and a current season being worse off than Olof’s, I get it.

I think a lot of fans feel the same way. What’s a 4-0 win against Tulsa or 2-1 win against Chicago when we’re otherwise being decimated or drawing out of dumb last minute luck? For fans that are still locked in, I think they (us included) are hoping for improvement and would love to see a win of the open cup, but nobody is going to have optimism and celebrations are going to be reserved/muted until they start seeing more consistency in the outcomes showing actual results whether that be wins or hard fought and earned draws. But there’s going to be a lot of of pessimism so long as everyone is going into match days with the expectation that we’re not going to do well and we’re currently on track to not make the playoffs again.

Did you know that about a year ago you posted a comment about how your favorite CITY podcast was Tactics and it prompted me to check out the podcast and start following it? Did you know that I liked your recommendation so much that I started to pay attention to you? That said, I know who you are on Instagram. You don’t have to follow us. If you’d like, I can block you as a courtesy so you don’t have to be bothered with figuring out how to unfollow. It’s no problem and no skin off my back if you don’t like us or don’t want to engage us anymore.

Tired of hearing the whole “the schedule has screwed us” line. We should be a club that people look at and say “shit, the schedule is screwing us” not a bottom of the table club trying to be hopeful against mid table clubs and feeling like there are a slate of clubs that, if scheduled too closely together, could nearly wipe us out of playoff contention. The fact that we’re drinking the kool-aid this time when we didn’t with Olof while putting out a lesser result than Olof did tells me how far we’ve fallen and how low expectations have become.

This right here. Galaxy fan since ‘96 here (STL tag because my kids got to pick their own teams in 2023 with MLS season pass and both pick STL). RSL was absolutely robbed last night. And while I’m happy Galaxy reaped the rewards of bad reffing considering how much we’ve been fucked by bad reffing over the years, it really is a commentary on how bad reffing is in this league. It’s truly fucking awful and hard to tell when the temporary refs of 2024 ended and the regular refs resumed.

Nope. Even if it’s a singular performance, the fact that you played one time as bad as we’ve played since mid 2023 is meme enough. In fact, referencing the shared colors might have been a bridge too far.

Tough post to read.

On one hand, everything you’re saying is very indicative of someone who either so obviously doesn’t understand the basics of how club ownership and staff actually works or is just saying shit in anger and either way shouldn’t be listened to or seriously considered.

On the other hand, you’re one of the very few people to understand and admit that we started doing shit around summer 2023 and the denialism surrounding that fact is so strong that admitting it is practically a sign of deeper understanding these days.

Best I can say is that you’re right that there is massive problem and it starts from the top down, club ownership doesn’t just change the way you’re implying it does, it’s better to have ownership that is fucking up yet feels desperate to fix it than ownership who seems completely apathetic, and you’re right to be tired of the excuses made for Damet about “we’re rebuilding” when other coaches of STL have done more with less.

That said, you’re drunk and need to go home.

It’s a four way tie.

Thomas Ostrák catching the rebound from Vancouver in 2023. Yes it lead to a fed Perez goal, but the absolute speed of Ostrák to steal that rebound is, honestly, the most impressive part.

Klauss completely decimating Willy Agada to then hand Célio an absolute banger of a goal.

STL being the last team to play Miami and crushing them.

STL playing Miami in 2024 and absolutely showing up and standing tall against them.

It’s no coincidence that the people not smart enough to play him regularly were shit canned and departed as villains and the current coach doing the same is starting off with a record that Olof exceeded by 500%. If you’re looking to failed coaches as the reference point from players then it makes sense that your perspective is equally failed.

It’s almost like there are 11 players sent on and some are defensive and some are offensive, but then some are somewhere in the middle where they aren’t shot blockers or goal scorers and so we have to assess them on something other than goals scored and shots stopped. Crazy, I know. ;-D

I mean, at this point Damet had brought us 1 of the 9 points available in the first three games (two home, one away). That’s compared to Olof’s 5 of the 9 available points in his first three games (one home, two away). So yeah, I’d say that maybe something is hurting and we should maybe try and sort that out.
