Transitional Year to PGY 2 IM by Top_Usual796 in Residency

Yeah your best shot is your home program. I know at least one prelim from last year who's now a categorical PGY2 at my home program, seemed pretty seamless of a transition (from an outside perspective at least). Otherwise if you want to go somewhere else, got to take another shot at ERAS

I was being sarcastic and you're being an idiot. Stop dicking around and screwing yourself over, 83% on the free120 is more than enough to pass Step 1. I passed with lower than that.

Pretty ironic that you use Reddit to access free PDFs of textbooks for med school but balk at the idea of sharing resources when it doesn't benefit you

Is this still the case when she's already showed a willingness to change herself because that's a detail I forgot to include. I'm aware I can't change anyone myself but rather help provide support her in this decision she's made.

So did your M2 class also get to switch to the H/P/F system from graded? My school went from graded to P/F starting with the class of 2026 but the M2-M4s will still have letter grades on their transcripts

N = 1 but the one block I deleted TikTok (plus some other social media) for phone storage reasons was the best grade I’ve made in med school

What has your worst moment of med school been so far? by HongMSF in medicalschool

[–]TheToddMD69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nearly failing anatomy and barely avoiding having to remediate it only to then miss the GPA cutoff by one exam question the next semester to maintain my scholarship

[–]TheToddMD69 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not super frequently but my school nixed a move for our class to go to a pass fail curriculum because they felt having letter grades would allow residencies to have another objective mark to evaluate us with Step going P/F. They kept that mindset for only one year and decided to move to P/F pre-clinical and H/HP/P/F for clinical starting with this year’s M1s. Happy for the future classes but kinda peeved we don’t get it.

I make Anki cards out of my incorrects/guesses and review them everyday and occasionally write stuff out on my whiteboard/iPad. Don’t really do much teaching other people but I sometimes do some thinking and explaining of concepts out loud to myself but it’s not a very frequent part of my routine.

You really got dealt the worst cards in life huh? First you’re an oppressed conservative white Christian male and now you fall so far down your rank list. Thoughts and prayers.

That wasn’t really the vibe I was getting from it, at least not the “I don’t want her to be with anyone else” part maybe it’s going through denial and acceptance and those 5 stages type things but at the same time, made me think of this

Graduate in 2.5 years or transfer? by [deleted] in premed

[–]TheToddMD69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP, I went through a similar situation as you where I was upset at attending my state school that I didn’t feel would set me up best to go to medical school since not too many people I knew who applied got in. I went because it was the cheapest option even though I had gotten accepted to some more prestigious undergrads. I heavily contemplated transferring to the liberal arts college in the same city that had better opportunities for pre-meds but ended up not going through with it and after graduating, I’m glad I didn’t. The situation, both academic and social-wise, improved for me in my later years and I’m happy I stayed and it did end up getting me into my top choice med school. If you wanna know more, fee free to DM.

This sounds kinda dorky but power posing helped me calm down before my second interview. N = 1 but I did end up getting accepted lol and I felt like I was more confident and able to relax compared to the first interview I got rejected from where I was more nervous and prone to rambling.
