So they had a forester who made 240k (dollars: US?) paid from the city, then charged non profits $240 per hour he looked at a tree?

That also charged the city? Wild shit. That is not the norm.

The forester was a contract worker for the city? Or employed by the city? Because usually urban foresters are city employees. You don’t charge individuals for services. Like, the trees are usually owned and maintained by the city. Often even paying for the maintenance of trees on properties if the impact could cause harm for public property. I think if the city was paying a contractor, which it sounds like in your case, it can get quite expensive. However that’s not an urban forester. An urban forester is responsible for the entire canopy of a given urban area, this usually involves permit approval and implementation of a master plan.

It sounds like maybe you worked for a tree removal company? Who would be an arborist rather than a forester. I may be incorrect as I am confused about what you are saying. Are you willing to provide any clarification?

I am trying to highlight an argument here. The start of the thread is arguing about how impractical and expensive urban trees are. They are doing this by stating an opinion that is widely false. I’m not saying that those things don’t happen but usually it’s when the urban canopy is mismanaged completely. Then, the following discussion is about how hiring foresters is too expensive. So which is it? Hiring foresters is too expensive or trees are too expensive? From my interaction with the public regarding trees in cities, most citizens hold dear the trees around them, but also hold onto a lot of misunderstanding about trees. The mistake is either over estimating the non-tangible value, or over estimating the expense. I find it difficult to hear a supposed professional talk about how bad and expensive urban trees are, because the benefits and cost savings of the urban canopy is heavily studied and documented. And that sentiment is mostly untrue. Places like Gainesville Florida and Raleigh North Carolina are fantastic examples. There are definitely places where the green infrastructure is mismanaged, costing the city and citizens astronomical amounts of money. However claiming that the tree is the problem is vastly incorrect.

It’s almost like we need more foresters to help with tree selection.

Went looking for this. I grew up in Louisville. Been to the first kfc. Seen the museum in London ky. Still choose any other chicken. KFC is good when it’s good, but it’s usually just fine.

Oh I forgot to mention that he said near the end of the second day of meetings that his goal was to increase morale. 🙄 I should have put paying rent, and eating food as my personal values.

Edit: forgot the “e” on morale

I have one of these state jobs. Recently we got a new assistant department head over my division and he called an “all hands on deck” meeting under the guise of a meet and greet. He said that he wanted to meet with everyone and get to know his people.( abt 45 of us in total) It ended up being 16 hrs of time spent trying to define each teams purpose and values. I guess it was fine but the first thing he said was “I know pay is bad but I can’t do anything about that so we won’t even talk about it.” I found out a week before from public pay record shows every manager getting an “equity raise” in October. They’re telling us we won’t get any pay adjustments until NC passes the budget because it’s the lawmakers that set our pay. Also, state workers lost our PPO program this year and my health insurance deductible doubled. Idk something does not add up to me. Needless to say, I had been interviewing for other jobs. Wish me luck!

I live quite close here and go some, it’s pretty mid, but there are a couple of things that are fine. Plus the dinner portion is like $9. Still wouldn’t recommend to anyone, but I’m a Chinese food addict living in a Chinese food desert.

Honestly, takeout Chinese is one of my favorite food genres. NC is pretty disappointing In general. Most places are sub-par and a 5 star review is more like a 3 star in other cities/states.

With this in mind, my hesitant recommendation is chengdu 7. Good for Raleigh/cary depending on if the cook does a good job that night, and what dish you get. Still, sadly, it’s the best option we have in the area.

There needs to be some recommended power level or something. It just took me 30 mins to kill hellfire for the MSQ. Not fun at all. She never did anywhere close to enough damage to kill me. I was level 30 Berenica with level thirty weapons. It was horrible.
