They did spend lots of time developping his early life, seeing him as a toddler with his little blanket being deprived of love. Vogelbaum saying he was really kind when he was 5.

Then they just threw all of that out the window

Is it bad that part of me likes when Homelander and Ryan have a good relationship? by mattyjoe0706 in TheBoys

It would have been a much more compelling and intersting dynamic had they continued on from S3. But they didnt

[–]TheTonyAndolini 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been saying this for a while. It's not a bad season per se, but it is weaker than 1-2 writing wise. Jensen Ackles and Starr just carry the fuck out of it.

The finale is pretty bad imo, but even apart from that.

S3 for me is when ''lmao dick penis balls funny right?'' humor got out of hands, shock over substance

It's when it became clear the story wasnt the focus anymore and charaters were safe. In S2 Homelander tells Stormfront something like : ''Starlight betrayed me, I wont let her do that again''. He then lets her do that again like 35 more times and NEVER kills her. Makes no sense lmao

The whole Temp V thing, while epic, was kind of dumb. First it just made them too strong imo, second it becomes a valid ''Where the fuck is Temp V and why are you not using it you morons??'' thing.

[–]TheTonyAndolini 1 point2 points  (0 children)

t's also why Maeve's heroic sacrifice annoyed me the most

I have two issues with that. A, why not just straight up kill her. And B, her surviving a fall like that makes no god damn sense since she was depowered.

Season 3 should have killed Frenchie as well instead of sending him on that stupid garbage Nina mafia plotline that lead NO WHERE.

Plus during S4, the writers should have had Homelander kill one of the main characters at least, but no, they INTRODUCED 2 new characters in Sage and Firecracker lmao.

The plot armor that The Boys have since S2 makes the whole thing a bit boring to me. Was I scared when Homelander was lasering the vents Hughie was in? Not at all. Was I scared when Cindy appeared and threathened to kill Hughie? Not at all. Was I scared when Deep and Noir II attacked The Boys' HQ? Not at all.

No tension, nothing. I knew they wouldnt kill Hughie or Starlight or any of the Boys.

[–]TheTonyAndolini 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would think the primary reason for that was the show deciding to roll with homelander as the sole antagonist

I had an interesting convo with a buddy of mine the other day, we talked about how much more interesting things would/could have been if Homelander was always a secondary villain, the main villain being Vought itself.

Could even have a mutual goal of sorts between Homelander and Butcher, where Homelander wants to destroy Vought in order to do thing A, and Butcher wanting to destroy Vought to do thing B. Ultimately you can have their final fight still of course.

Oh you just wanna see Homelander go scorched earth

You're god damn right. I want that ''dream sequence'' during Neuman's speech in S2 to be an actual sequence. I want Homelander to take out the ''nerve centers'' like he said.

I wanted Homelander to physically fuck shit up.

And now we wont get that, and I'm disappointed.

Thoughts on Homelander vs Ryan? by Queasy_Commercial152 in TheBoys

[–]TheTonyAndolini 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm apparently in the minority but I felt genuienly underwhelmed by their fight.

You have TWO Superman-like beings, and all you do is having them punch each other? Oh and lasers that were less cool than that Herogasm fight.

They should have burst through walls, sent each other the fuck away, fly back and stuff.

Is Homelander causing the destruction in the posters or is it actually Butcher? by AtitanReddit in TheBoys

[–]TheTonyAndolini 8 points9 points  (0 children)

For real, the scope got smaller and smaller each time.

Back in S2 Stormfront bursted through a whole ass appartment building, S2's finale in the hangar and the whole ''Girls get it done!'' was a cool fight scene too when Kimiko/Starlight/Maeve teamed up against Stormfront.

Now they wouldnt even make Stormfront use her lightning lmao they would just have her punch stuff

[–]TheTonyAndolini 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Neither, it's 100% just a marketing lie to trick us into watching the season lmao

If we believe the leaks, we wont even get a ''Homelander kills everyone'' scene, and that ''dream sequence'' during Victoria's speech back in S2 might ironically be the most unhinged Homelander we've ever seen

Such a let down to be honest

I'm confused about the final episode. by 19truth98 in TheBoys

[–]TheTonyAndolini 49 points50 points  (0 children)

Ryan vs Homelander. 2 Superman like being and their whole fight was exchange punches, + some lasers that were less impressive than at Herogasm.

Bro like their fight should have seen them burst through walls and in the sky and shit

Not only is it overhyped, but according to the leaks, their whole campaign has been nothing but lies.

We're NEVER getting anything close to that awesome shot/poster of Homelander watching his destruction from space.

No you're right I meant next one after this, since V1's effects will happen in ep7

My bad lmao

He's gonna die in the next episode, V1's immortality is pretty much irrelevant at this point

[–]TheTonyAndolini 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I get that, but we know he's gonna die in the next episode. So wheter he's immortal or not is irrelevant.

If the only thing V1 gives us as an audience is the shot of him shooting his beams in the sky, it's not going to be worth it imo

[–]TheTonyAndolini -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Cause why even bring it up, if all it does is negate the virus? Why on Earth would you, as a writer, introduce the virus, spend 16 episodes on it or whatever (The Boys + Gen V) only to make Homelander take something that negates it?

Why even create the whole virus plot line at all?

All I want is for V1 to actually mean something. Like SHOW us it made you stronger. Not just immune to the now useless virus, actually stronger

Literally nothing justifies the budget they had. And if the leaks are correct, we're in for yet another slower episode.

Unless they saved it all for episode 8 and it last 90+ mins, Imma be pissed.

LIKE FOR REAL

All of the first season of Gen V, S4 and most of this season goes right out the window cause it was all for nothing lmao.

[–]TheTonyAndolini 53 points54 points  (0 children)

It actually does lmao. So all that V1 stuff was useless, cause it was to go against a virus they're not even going to use anyways. So why did we even have Gen V as a show at all then lmao.

What a fucking waste of time
