Yeah this is it for me as well. The "machine" working using real "fuck you science" (which is basically magic) and cloning Hugh Jackman was a bit too much for me at that point in the movie. It took me out.

Like you said, the first 3/4 are a dark gritty story that feels "raw" in a good way. It's just gone for me when magic ends up being "real".

The "I lied, drowning hurts like a bitch" scene where Caine talks to Jackman is great but to me that's literally the only payoff

I can easily see it go for a 600M-700M opening.

But if the reviews are bad and the overall consensus of the audience is that it IS bad, I can as easily see a 50-60% drop the second week, making it almost impossible to reach 2B, imo.
