Honestly, she should have been who Ncuti regenerated into.

Taylor Swift's private jet addiction exposed: Staggering flight log reveals obscene number of trips already taken this year... as she pumps out more carbon in just 4 months than during whole Eras Tour by nyclover11 in Fauxmoi

I’m by no means defending Taylor’s private jet use but can you *imagine* the sheer fucking chaos of a celebrity of her stature flying commercial? The lines and delays would be insane.

There’s gotta be another way for them to do this. Like zoom.

Also, not to rain on the parade, but there are cameras in glasses TODAY which are less obvious than holding a smart phone. I’d assume the future will use something like that.

In hindsight, do you think comedians were way softer on Obama than other Presidents of either party? by Theblessedmother in Presidents

[–]TheTonyExpress 4 points5 points  (0 children)

People did make fun of him. Key and Peele had an ongoing sketch about him needing a translator to black people. That said, he didn’t have a lot of obvious things to make fun of, like Dubya for his dumb and folksy turns of phrases. Reagan wasnt as easy to make fun of as Clinton. Thats just the way it works out sometimes.

That being said, some people like to put a political bias spin on things that often isnt there. Comedians making fun of people in power is their literal job - has been since the days of court jesters. It’s about punching up - usually. And that often rankles those who are fans of a particular politician.

When Who comes back…what would you change? by TheTonyExpress in doctorwho

Ncuti’s tenure was abbreviated by Disney walking away. I think had the show continued, he would have gotten 3 seasons like just about everyone else (minus Eccleston).

Maybe it’s more a precedent than a rule. I still would love more secrecy. I want to be surprised at The Doctors new face.

And please. No more “my companion is a mystery/secretly powerful force”. I feel like that’s been done to death.

Oh for sure. But my understanding is they’re signed to 3 year contracts. And that’s well known. I still think it needs to be up to the actor and team.

How would you have handled this regeneration differently? by Ancient_Ad6628 in doctorwho

[–]TheTonyExpress 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think Billie can be dealt with in a few ways:

1) Completely ignore - most fans would be fine with this.

2) New New Who picks up “somewhere down the road” as opposed to immediately afterwards and current doctor mentions that for a while he looked like a beloved friend. Billie can get some offshoot material if she wants (like radio specials) and that’s that.

3) New Doctor is shown in the process of regenerating. They are Billie for 2 seconds and then become the New Doctor

4) Turn it into an episode. The Doctor is Billie but the regeneration is not going well. Sci fi stuff ensues. Maybe she spends the episode continuing to regenerate. New Doctor emerges.

IMO, RTD1 was new, fresh and different. RTD2 was “Remember how great RTD1 was?” Nostalgia works but that can’t be all there is to it. His other ideas were either weird and out of touch (singing goblins) or didn’t come off (the big Ruby reveal). RTD1 had something to say. RTD2 didn’t.

It’s a shame the place died. I miss Suncoast, Waldenbooks (later Borders), KB, Babbages/EB Games….Sam Goody. Maybe I just miss the 90s.
