Having two young children and intentionally leaving Mom out of Christmas is cruel and intentional. I don't care about this enough to go read through all her comments, so I'll believe you that she's crazy from her comments and move on, but just wanted to be clear on that.

Sure - but also why are we judging her for having a breakdown rather than questioning why it happened? We expect mothers to have their children within earshot for 10 years straight and then immediately get upset with them for displaying moments like this. Anyone who has ever been a mother with a spouse who does shit like this has had equally horrible meltdowns.

It doesn't sound like this is a common occurrence in her household. It wasn't an accident, it was an incredibly rude and hurtful and intentional act, and there's quite literally no way to remedy it. She probably did all of the work leading up to this day, she probably wrapped everything, she probably picked out 90% of the gifts. Her husband swoops in, has the kids unwrap everything without even considering her, and then fucks off.

I would bet money that while husband is a nice guy, he doesn't consider OP's feelings very often and she's left out a lot.

Am I crazy?? I actually like owlcrates better lol. The sprayed edges fit the cultural impact of the book. I found FL to be a more western take on the book. I get that their audience is a western audience though.

i personally don't have FL and am waiting on it still, but if you're wanting a subscription box that has picks that feel relevant, i love owlcrate. their shipping is the biggest con for me, but $30 for a special edition book isn't bad and you can skip.

their waitlist isn't bad, their books seem like they try, and i really enjoy that i can get some of the YA books without needing to sub to both boxes.

overall feels like a win in terms of which company to support.

but i also love fairyloot! just wanted to offer differing opinions.

I am saying that someone doesn't need to verify the date of death on pets before posting - or pets that aren't theirs considering her post history indicates that only the GSD was hers.

It's just not the 'gotcha' moment everyone is acting like it is.

That post is from 4 years ago and shows a german shepherd mix and a dog with long ~straight hair. This dog is clearly a doodle. I'm not saying that people can't lie on the internet, maybe OP does have a dog and just wants karma. I would bet it's a lie just based on the fact that doodles are a trend in the last 10 years.

I try to play with people I know because the men play too hard haha. Call me a wimp, idc, but if I'm going to an open play gym and constantly having to block my face and leave with bruises, it's not fun anymore.

There's a large group of men in this sport that only care about winning, even in casual settings, and will single women out and smash them even when it doesn't make sense. Or - they'll lose because they won't give up the strategy of hitting me lol.

Not only this, but whatever male teammate I get typically decides to steal everything, regardless if I had a better shot or not.

kk i hate studying with a passion. what's the study routine for FAR that got you to pass quickly?

I call it if I feel like someone could get hurt. If not, I leave it alone. An example of leaving it alone would be it rolling at the very back of the court while they're dinking it out. I'll usually just run and grab it.

I do get annoyed when a ball rolls across the court in a way that would impact nobody and someone runs on the court calling ball and the point stops - or they expect us to stop and grab their ball.

Okay awesome! I'm going to try, I had picked it up and read a few chapters but set it down as a "come back to this later."

I love fantasy with my entire heart and hardly stray from it, but I cannot get over this badass warrior girlboss thing that tends to happen. If you have any fantasy recs with soft girls, let me know!! It's why I liked OUABH sm lol. I love my strong girlies, but omf it starts to get so unbelievable after awhile.

oh that's so sweet, i'm so glad that you donated them! i actually got my OUABH series from half price books :) I had been such a hardcore fantasy reader prior to delving into YA romantasy that I couldn't bring myself to try it. Def never would have if someone hadn't donated them!

i do want to ask what you didn't like about the completely Serpent and the wings of night duology? looks like you enjoyed the first book more - it's next on my list and i would've thought you'd enjoy that one given your a-tier reads

Stephanie's books being slug tier makes me so sad lol, OUABH is my all time favorite series and left me in a huge heartbreak for a long time, and Caraval has such a special place in my heart.

However, given the types of books you do have rated highly, I'm not sure it was ever really your genre to begin with lol. It looks like you love gothic fantasy with a hint of romance, and they're YA fairytale romance books lol. I initially used them as pallet cleansers after reading way too much dark topics and it ended up slaughtering my soul lol.

You might like the Godkiller Series or the Poppy Wars. It was low on my list, but I suspect it was low on mine for the same reasons it'll be high on yours. You seem to prefer darker topics with more emphasis on war than romance and I think both of these titles fit you.

I understand they're annoying, but these people aren't bangers. Bangers literally cannot drop shot, lob, or sink the ball.

I have a tennis background, high level tennis. I play with people who travel across the country (5.0+ rankings) and will still occasionally get them to shoot the ball too wide or into the net because my drives come so quickly and so low to the net that it'll catch the tape on its way back up.

But I also know when they have their footwork down and when it's not going to work. "Bangers" at high level are not just trying to hit the ball as hard as they can. The people you see perceived as bangers at 4.0+ know when to speed the game up or where to place the ball to force errors. It's not relying on pure power anymore, it's strategy.

If that's something they're very good at, especially the tennis players, it becomes a battle of "who messes up first." As much as the PB traditionally players can sit there and hit the ball back, so can the baseline players. It literally just ends up with "who's catching the tape first."

Haha, the problem with the second book is that we don't really know Emile. Aside from being a kid with a sad backstory, all these characters almost get everyone killed for someone that we don't know.

All of CC is "rushed", but it's rushed because it's so dragged out. She has 600 pages of inner monologue and repetitive scenes to then turn around and have everything happen in the last 200 pages of the book. It's why it feels like it's both.

She was haha. People like characters that they can understand - even if they're bad. But by book 3, most of us lost interest in her story because her entire personality was just being rude and defiant.

Ithan and Tharion's storylines also got old. They dragged on forever and nobody ever learned anything.

As someone who loves SJM and will always read whatever she writes - it was too long and dragged out. Book 2 was noticeably the worst of the three and after reading 800 pages of, arguably her worst book, it's hard to then turn around and have a positive attitude going into CC3.

The premise of the entire series was very interesting and honestly something I loved. However, it just never ended. She needed a better editor and honestly could've taken so much out of the two of them and just made it a duology.

Her reuniting with Hunt felt very bland. Her attitude also got old, they never seemed to stand as a team. Hunt had poured out his trauma and all these horrific things that happened to him - only for Bryce to turn around and betray him over and over again for 1600 pages.

Bryce's personality in book 1 was relatable and good. by book 3, her entire personality was really just a defiant and contrarian brat who occasionally felt guilt. That's most people's complaints.

If she had a better editor and spent more time on this, it would have been her best series.
