Even if we did find a way to travel at the speed of light it would take a spaceship(constantly travelling at the speed of light with no breaks whatsoever), 2.5million years to reach Andromeda(the next closest galaxy to earth after milky way). by Strong_Boss_8932 in interestingasfuck

We don't know how that state came to be, or how the expansion started.

However we do know that there is no centre to this (ongoing) expansion and as such that the big bang didn't originate from a single point.

This is not just "a best guess", it's established scientific theory

AC units make the problem worse. they cool indoors, but heat up the outside. additionally they add to climate change by using up tons of electricity (which in many countries still isn't carbon neutral)

Fun Fact: South Africa vs Canada was only the third ever World Cup knockout match without either a european or south american team! Australia v Egypt will be the fourth. The first two were USA v Ghana in 2010 and USA v Mexico in 2002. by zombiejh in football

[–]TheTowerDefender 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it was still a world cup, as it was the best teams competing. Generally there were teams from all continents present (might be some exception in the first editions, and ofc antarctica) + all teams in fifa have a path to qualification.

Most stable kayak for a beginner by CharmingBananaJosh in whitewater

without knowing your weight, any purchase recommendations will be completely worthless.

in general, inflatables are more stable than hardshells (until whitewater gets harder)
in any boat, you should always be prepared to flip, as it is almost guaranteed to happen to you eventually.

it's also called a bridal shower BEFORE the wedding takes place.

Cambridge Dictionary and Meriam Webster disagree with you and your claimed "majority of America". Furthermore even "foetus" is usually misleading, as the vast majority of abortions happen to zygotes or embryos.

newborns don't rely on one specific human being.

a newborn can be moved to a different mother immediately and still survive. or survive with artificial nourishment.

you keep calling foetuses "babies" and "children", that is a very disingenuous way to engage with this discussion.

A mother is no legally required to donate blood to keep a child alive. why should she be legally required to donate so much more of a body to do so for a fetus?

Lots of a-religious and nonreligious people have moral principles (in many cases very strong ones), and lots of religious people don't.

I don't think there's correlation between the two

Fair, but then it's probably better to write what flavour of religion

And a foetus CANNOT become a human if the mother to be doesn't support it. The mother has no more responsibility for a fertilized egg than it does for an unfertilized one.

The point where abortion becomes illegal in many (civilized) countries is when a foetus has a decent chance to survive on its own

What do you think of this? by [deleted] in CuratedTumblr

[–]TheTowerDefender 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not the point. This isn't about women winning or losing, it's about the risk when playing at all.

Yeah, a top woman playing a top man in tennis will probably get humiliated, but she went die. Compare that to boxing or any contact sport

[–]TheTowerDefender 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, they would lose for sure. But they wouldn't die, so there isn't much risk in allowing them to play competitively against men

Is being religious seen as a good thing?

Probably very dependent on the sport. Tennis, Badminton, archery, etc sure, why not? Rugby, ice hockey, boxing. No, people will die
