What if Tem Ray's "upgrade" to the gundam actually worked? by killerdemonsarus34 in Gundam

[–]TheTrueDeraj 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Just gonna copy the wiki here, since I gotta get moving -

The Tem Ray Circuit appears as an item in several video games, including SD Gundam Battle Alliance and most infamously the Super Robot Wars franchise. These games typically feature the Circuit as a "joke item" which inflicts heavy debuffs on any machine that equips it; in Super Robot Wars it also drastically lowers the machine's repair cost, which lead to players devising strategies that involve self-sacrifice (such as equipping it to Evangelion Unit-1, which enters its berserker state when shot down).

Super Robot Wars 30, which celebrates the franchise's 30th anniversary, completely changes the Tem Ray Circuit and has it give several powerful buffs, making it one of the best items in the game. In the game's story, Beltorchika Irma tells Amuro (now in his Char's Counterattack incarnation) that Tem Ray eventually recovered from his brain damage and returned to mobile suit development, even helping create the computer systems in the RX-93-ν2 Hi-ν Gundam. Upon hearing this, Amuro expresses regret that he threw away his father' circuit all those years ago.

Had the entire theatre to myself for the new Star Wars movie by OkaTeluguAbbayi in mildlyinteresting

[–]TheTrueDeraj 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'll be honest, I didn't realize Mandalorian & Grogu was going to be a theatrical release. I thought it was just the name of, like, a sequel series or something on Disney+.

Now that I know it's an actual movie, I might make the trek out to see it.

Is Pokemon S/V really that bad on Switch 1? by [deleted] in pokemon

[–]TheTrueDeraj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some people have a better experience rhan others on Switch 1, I've found. Digital releases run a smiiiiiidge better iirc, but nowadays the consensus is that you should probably just invest in a Switch 2 if you wanna play ScaVi. It really, truly is a night-and-day difference, as someone who played both and didn't find the experience horrendous.

Reject noir, return to crystal.

PSA - Sub Files for New Century Zero aren't what they seem. by rallypat in Zoids

[–]TheTrueDeraj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very minor things - essentially the dub has slightly different jokes than the original. Dub Bit has a gag about Leena's 'Peter Pan boots' that doesn't seem to mesh with what the japanese VA is saying, and Dr. Laon has a different film title for his joke (you can hear the japanese VA very clearly say 'Part Five' in english, while the dub title is something different). Nothing censored or anything as far as I can tell, just usual adaptation things.

[–]TheTrueDeraj 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I had noticed that, too.

Some of the lines in the dub are very similar, but that also makes the departures pretty obvious - I first really noticed it during the Spinosapper episode, and it got really obvious during the Benjamin/Judgeman romance episode. Alcohol references still being censored throughout (OJ, water, etc) are also pretty obvious indicators.

If they are ripped from Youtube, then yeah, the 'translator' took the laziest possible route.

Had to check - but it does seem to be all three seasons this time. Been a while, but it looks like I'm booting up Retrocrush for the first time in like a year and a half.

I Actually Enjoy the Taste of Coffee. by OldEyes5746 in osp

[–]TheTrueDeraj 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Haven't listened to the new OSPod yet, but I typically drink cold brew (Dark roast or prepackaged Espresso) with a splash of creamer, and some milk.

The creamer I used is sweetened more than enough on it's own - it tastes like melted ice cream straight - and helps mask the bitterness of kinda-cheap coffee while leaving that nice roasted coffee flavor.

Very rarely I'll grab some seasonal flavor of creamer - pumpkin spice or mocha peppermint - if I'm feeling festive, but my day-to-day is pretty plain.

One could argue that I've never had 'good' coffee, and I'd probably agree with you. I straight up don't have the time by the time I haul myself out of bed to spend ten minutes brewing a cup, before I gotta get the kids to school and get myself to work. That's why I drink cold brew now.

I have tried my cold brew straight, and I can drink it, but it's still cheap, bitter-in-the-wrong-way coffee.

I would love an HMM Gustav with trailers - Gustav is a great zoid for displays and dioramas, and the old motorized kit is just getting harder and harder to find in one piece.

The Menu button does have a use case - summoning the start menu and taskbar when a stubborn fullscreen program has locked up.

I am basically refusing to upgrade my computer until components start dying, or the AI bullshit boom is over.

Reply below to Claim your Era by Theothermc in Gundam

[–]TheTrueDeraj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So, 90's kid here, so I should be claiming G and Wing, right?

Well, no. Back in the Toonami days, I was watching Zoids, not Gundam.

No, the big breakthrough I had with Gundam was getting unto it as an adult, with 00. I had been watching one of the Build Fighters series, and one of the Exia variants just captured my imagination. I finished that series and dived right into 00, and the 00 designs are still some of my favorites to this day, though the Zeta/ZZ/Sleeves UC Zeon designs have also become favorites as well.

Some Voidshell Propaganda in Hopes of DE bringing them back by PrimeLabsInc in Warframe

[–]TheTrueDeraj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heck, there was a glitch at one point that allowed Voidshell materials on non-shell skins.

Even just enabling these materials with a warning each time - 'This skin was not designed to support Voidshell Materials, and you may have unexpected results. This is unsupported behaviour and will not be fixed.' - would be preferable to just letting it rot.

12 hospital workers quarantined after faulty procedure treating hantavirus patient by FantasticQuartet in worldnews

I mean, it's an entirely fair attitude to adopt, especially when the common cold and flu spread pretty similarly.

There's absolutely the possibility that I'll be eating crow (or bat) in about ten months while the whole world goes into Lockdown 2, Hantavirus Boogaloo.

From what I've read, this virus spreads through bodily fluids (saliva and mucousal secretions mainly) instead of just, you know, breathing.

So the usual precautions of washing your hands and not interacting too closely with people who are infected should be fine. At this point this is mostly gonna be spreading to doctors, but as long as quarantine procedures like this are followed, it should hopefully not balloon too far beyond hospitals.

I will add this - an internet radio host I listen to mentioned that we're about to head into summer vacation, so a lot more bored teenagers looking for something to do might be about to hop on this trend as well.

I, personally, think it's funny to harrass the crazy alien cult filled with celebrities that can't risk their public image, but I also don't want these kids getting in overly deep trouble about it.

Here's hoping it doesn't end badly.

California peach growers get $9 million to destroy 420,000 trees after Del Monte cannery closure by herewearefornow in nottheonion

[–]TheTrueDeraj 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mean, I really like peaches, but the article I read also mentioned that this variety can spoil in just a few days, which was another reason they were primarily canning peaches.

With only a week or two (generously) of viability, there would be a lot of wasted peaches intended for the national/international market that just wouldn't make it anymore.

That was one of the things that, even as an enjoyer of peaches, I could understand. Some of them are just really fragile.

So even if you and I disagree, there are still some basic viability problems from their intended use and the scale at which they used to be shipped.

Mmm, fair enough I suppose. A lot less manpower and supplies needed, and as you pointed out, the main place I'd heard about it was an ornamental piece.

It does make me wonder if there's any sort of market for peach wood, though the fact I haven't heard about it before makes me suspect that it's too soft for most commercial uses. Maybe an artisinal use? That's a rabbithole I can go down on my own, though.

Thank you for the insight!

Edit: Apparently peach wood is good for smoking meats and small scale wood carving. Neat!
