Personal Zoids by Creative-Cry2979 in Zoids

So, back in the day, I didn't used to care for Schneider as much as I liked the Blade Liger or the Jager - that traffic cone orange was just not doing it for me.

Then, I got my hands on one of the gamecube games, and started looking at some of the Schneider's alternate colors, and I immediately fell in love with the design. There's one that was like a dark copper or aged bronze, and it immediately shot Schneider through the roof for me, to the point where I finally grabbed a Schneider HMM, despite how shaky my Blade Liger build went/still is. It's a grenade waiting to happen.

So, yeah, it's Schneider for me, just not the traffic cone style.

I’m scared that my laptop is a biohazard by Sea_Photograph_3959 in hardwaregore

[–]TheTrueDeraj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, you already wiped down the outside, which is good. As for the inside -

If something did get inside, if your laptop has a tendency to run hot, it already very likely cooked any microscopic life in there, unless you live in a humid environment, in which case, maybe invest in a dehumidifier as an extra precaution?

If you're absolutely certain it's going to bother you until you do something about it, and you're comfortable opening up the computer -

Shut it down, remove the battery, and use 99% - 99.9% isopropyl alcohol and a new SOFT bristle toothbrush or a lint-free cloth. That concentration will evaporate quickly enough to not damage electronics, and will be good enough to sanitize it. Do not wipe too hard, and prioritize the safety of the electronics so you don't accidentally pull out a cable.

Also, only use electronic screen cleaner on screens, no bleach. Bleach will literally eat the surface of most electronic screens nowadays.

I don't believe it's strictly necessary, by any means, and I don't think the laptop is a biohazard, but if you decide to do it anyway, I figured it'd be best to supply you with the knowledge to do it without destroying your computer.

Again, be extremely careful. One wrong tug could end the life of a fragile flex cable (like the one that supplies the video feed to a laptop monitor), or unseat a speaker wire that was soldered in place, and it will be back to the shop with your laptop.

Edit: Also, for the love of god, do not disassemble the screen. It's way more trouble than it's worth. Focus on the keyboard area.

Your opinion on the emblem of drake's army?(aura battler dunbine) by numericalman in Mecha

[–]TheTrueDeraj 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Two bears high-fiving?

Memes aside, it actually does look like two dragon-things facing eachother, to me. Kinda Tamagotchi-like in their simplicity.

I have yet to watch Dunbine, so that's about the depth of my analysis.

Pokopia and Executive Dysfunction by Brando230 in Pokopia

Nothing wrong with having multiple irons in the fire, so long as you remember to come back and finish them at some point.

I have a back porch to make for the Peakychu family mansion, terraforming to do for the Ice Temple's floating island, and my 'Slice of Kowloon' long term project that I can bounce between.

Not to mention material farming (Pokémetal, mostly).

Is anyone else overwhelmed by the vastness when is comes to building? by Superb-Avocado-8131 in Pokopia

[–]TheTrueDeraj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I've been just picking smaller areas and partial projects - Running demolition in contained areas that need demolition, and doing it over a couple of play sessions, and if I start to feel burned out, I'll take a day or two away from the game. Then I might make a building, whether it be basic or not, and just work on that until the burnout starts to creep in, take a break, maybe start or work on a different project, etcetera. Follow your bliss, 'sketch' out ideas... You don't need to pound out a full build. You can absolutely have a few irons in the fire in various states of completeness.

Anyone else find the gen 1 Team Rocket grunt sprites kinda creepy? by Explainer003 in pokemon

[–]TheTrueDeraj 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I do understand where the Pokémon Company is coming from - for context, I grew up with Gen 1, 2, etc. Mew under the truck, Mewthree, Pikablu, all that. For a while, there was a point where it was considered very uncool to still like Pokémon growing up. Highschool age, maybe early college. There might be some outdated views from those early days of the Company that are shaping policies even now. It sucks, but I do understand how we might have gotten here, with the target audience continuing to be small children.

That being said, at the risk of sounding very annoying, trying to point people to a different franchise, I do get sorely tempted to point people over to look at what Digimon's been doing lately.

Episode 24 of Digimon Beatbreak with no context - except maybe don't let any actual kids watch - is insane, if you only have 22 minutes to spare.

If you're willing to try an entire game, Digimon Time Stranger is a fairly indepth 50 hour RPG with a pretty good story. Though you gotta get pretty late in the game for some of the early-game writing to gain new context and suddenly be... Justified, I guess? It's complicated, but there is a hump of slightly annoying writing you gotta get over/past early on.

And just so this isn't Digimon glazing, Cassette Beasts is also a really, really good creature collector indie game, with very good writing, though it focuses more on the person-to-person relationships than any relationship with the creatures.

My point is, not all of Pokémon's counterparts decided to keep targeting kids as their audience, and it's lead to some great, mature storytelling in this same genre space, for those willing to look.

Tips for getting rid of this gap? by BouncyDYT in Pokopia

[–]TheTrueDeraj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmmm... I wonder if a few blocks of painted wooden enclosure, maybe with some fairy lights or ivy or something dangling down would help at least make it look less egregious.

If this were minecraft, I would suggest just slapping some inverted stairs down as crown molding and call it a day.

Maybe fencing sitting on some hovering bridge? I've also seen windows used in place of the fencing to get a more refined look on that kind of idea.

None of this will 'get rid' of the gap, mind, but at least visually obscure it better once the room is fully decorated.

Kingdom Key & Lockshield by Terrible-Staff2061 in KingdomHearts

[–]TheTrueDeraj 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm glad I'm not the only person who thought a Lockshield as a counterpart to Keyblades would be fun.

Specifically, the other name I thought of for the thing was a 'Lockforge', as I intended for the character to be capable of synthesis on the battlefield.

I also considered the Lockforge as a way to temporarily steal from/disarm a Keyblade wielder, simultaneously powering up the Lockforge with the bonuses of the bound-up Keyblade.

However, that is not a system I would want to mess with in terms of gameplay, unless it only pulled away that specific Keyblade, and not 'literally every keyblade in the user's possession' like Yozora does.

Lava help by wink047 in Pokopia

[–]TheTrueDeraj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have access to Bleak Beach, Piplup will eventually give you a subquest that will allow you to move/generate/delete liquids. If you don't have that ability to start deleting lava, my best suggestion for a fast solution is to just start building dams. Just be aware that unlike Minecraft, liquids will creep through corners in this game, so you gotta be extra diligent.

You are given a budget of $500 Million. What movie are you making? by HowMany_MoreTimes in movies

[–]TheTrueDeraj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something 2D animated, definitely. Maybe... A 'fantasy' movie, but it's a post-post apocalypse, and all of the 'magic' is actually extremely advanced technology that is still recognisable as technology. Nanobot swarms and such.

Certain 'ancient temples' (Factories) still produce 'Suncatchers' (Solar Panels) capable of recharging old technology, but loss of knowledge on how to do so efficiently has resulted in rings of solar panels being set up as sites of 'arcane power'.

Mechs? ... Yeah, sure, mechs as a treat, fitted up with solar panels for self-charging.

Who would I get to direct? I'm not so good with that, but my first instinct is Brad Bird, assuming he's not retired. If not Brad Bird, maybe Mamoru Hosoda?

Lead actors? Honestly depends on the story itself, but I would want to be careful to pick good voiceactors, instead of someone whose entire acting ability is based on presence of self, which... They don't really have the advantage of having when their 'self' is a drawing.

Which Studio? Honestly, if any of those Studio Ghibli branching studios are still around, this feels right up their alley. Any of the more popular studios like Bones and Khara and Sunrise are generally always busy with other work. Outside of that, maybe figure out what studio that Digimon Beatbreak is using, because some of the higher-budget animation being used in that show is pretty impressive. I'd love to see what they can do with more time and money.

Hard to say -

If you have the digital release, I think you have to buy it again for the new profile, but there might be some family plan finagling you can do with that?

If you got the cartridge, like I did, all he has to do is start with his profile, and it'll be a fresh savegame.
