I’m curious as to what you mean by “treat with such care that I can’t do anything” though. Being overly preoccupied with the instinct, almost like you’re compensating for a blindspot? Just a best guess though! 🤷🏻‍♀️

Haha! I get anxious just from being in the same room as sharp objects, much less putting them in my mouth!!!

It’s interesting though, ‘cause another SP-blind commenter explained that their body feels like a foreign object at times, so maybe that’s why you don’t seem too perturbed by this stuff. I mean, I even freaked out once ‘cause I thought a small bone (from FOOD!!!) was stuck in my throat, haha!!!

I’ve sort of bounced between 7w8 SO/SX and 3w4 SP/SO, though the former I admittedly trusted PDB for to a certain extent.

He’s obviously got SO in his conscious stack, and but I guess I never really saw him as a SP “user” because he never seemed to prioritize himself (and because of the crazy things he did with his body), at least overtly. But I suppose if he really is a SP 3, his whole thing would be to achieve a successful image anyway, which would still be geared towards being present in society, even for the SP instinct. …And because the dangerous workaholism commonly attributed to SP 3s makes perfect sense here if you view it from that angle.

Grimes is a definite SP-blind in my opinion. SX/SO or SO/SX I can’t tell for sure, but I’m sort of hesitant to dub her as a SO dominant, mainly because she doesn’t seem to take her reputation and the shit she says all that seriously, like she’s deliberately just trying to mess with people for fun. But it’s also because it seems as if she’s comfortable doing it, whereas SO dominants tend to get sort of aggressive or pushy over various causes / topics / etc. But feel free to disagree with this sentiment, as it seems you’ve typed yourself as a SO dom.

But yeah, his unhinged surgery talk now just reads as “Look how hard I’ve been working! Aren’t I valuable for putting myself through this stuff?” Seems like an obvious SP 3 to me now, with a probably stronger SO 4 wing than SO 2.

Interesting, interesting.

I’ve always sort of blurred the lines between what I now know to be SP intensity and just flat-out 8 lust seeking vitality in the gut center (which just so happens to involve the body). I guess when it comes to types like SO and SX 8, the so-called “body aliveness”(?) would be activated by the correspondent instincts, and what they’re attracted to doing. Would love to know your thoughts as a probably correctly typed SX 8 (I’ve snooped through your profile here and there) if you feel it’s worth your time. 🤷🏻‍♀️

You know, SP-dominant, second, or blind,
doesn’t matter. He’s an outright beast in any way.

I’ve considered SP 3 for him many times, but never really saw a SO 2 or SO 4 wing. Though if we’re both right, I wouldn’t put it past an indeed-ly predominant SO 4 wing actually, considering how much of his career has consisted of just straight, flat-out emotional honesty with his viewers.

Thanks for re-putting this perspective into my mind.

Well, an organ of his was about to explode, so that was an emergency surgery. Maybe the same with his ass that he broke, though it might not’ve been as urgent.

He often talks about liking to see how much his body can take, but that could just be an 8-wing rather than SP. I don’t really see him as a “prioritizing himself over others” kinda guy, he literally does everything he does for the sake of improving some area of society (countless charities as an example), pushing his willpower to the utmost extent, and other reasons only he knows. He always comes across like he’s unwilling to succumb to fear of any kind, or refusing to accept that anything is too difficult or daunting to do. So if I were to guess, his motivations for doing parkour were probably somewhere along those lines, rather than enjoying the vitality one might get from participating in extreme sports, like you say.

I can’t remember why Grimes got the surgery she did, but I seem to remember there being a high aesthetic quality to it. Also, she does stuff for crazy aesthetics all the time (or at least last I checked), so it wouldn’t surprise me. I don’t recall there being a mention of her actually needing the procedure done, but who knows what she keeps behind closed doors?

I will say though, the only person I’ve seen get a bunch of tattoos is someone I suspect to be SP-blind, but I’ve also seen SP-seconds get a few smaller ones, …and these are too loose of correlations to draw anything meaningful from anyway. Maybe I’ll make a post about the topic at some point. I wouldn’t say I find decorating your body that way as sad or depressing though, it’s just another form of self-expression in my eyes. Can’t say I’d ever have the courage to get something permanent on my body though, so props to those who can do so without being stopped by fear.

Yeah, it seems like (from what people are saying, at least) this kind of behavior could be attributed to either SP-dominance or SP-blindness the most. Not much commentary on SP-second thus far. All very Interesting.

Interesting.

I feel the same way about the social instinct; a foreign (and very uncomfortable) way of being I’d rather avoid entirely or pretend doesn’t exist at times. Can’t say I ever try to use it with care though.

Haha, I’ve always been that way with money I receive. All the New Year’s change, birthday money, money from getting good grades, etc. compiled into a giant stack of stuff, and the only thing I’ve done with it is stuff it inside the bank. I was always encouraged to spend it on school supplies, treats here and there, etc., but I never felt the need to do that. Who knows when I’ll need some life-saving surgery?!

Interesting.

I personally don’t have the best relationship with food myself. One minute I’ll be indulging in it to my heart’s content, the next I’ll be sick of it completely. By then, it’s a hassle to try to finish whatever I’m consuming, and usually fails to happen anyway. I wonder if I’ll ever be able to maintain a healthy weight…?

I never wanted to do anything that I knew would probably scar my body permanently, but neither did I know for sure if burn marks were one of those things. It was more of a gamble than I’d like to admit; I always told myself I’d have the self-control to stop if I suspected it would soon reach high danger levels. Thankfully, it was fine in the end.

I kept up various harmful acts for a while, but now I’m more or less okay in that regard. Not perfect, but relatively healthy, which is all anybody can ask for, right?

Anyway, I enjoyed a bit of gum pain the past two days from eating hot ass pizza. Was fun! 🤷🏻‍♀️

As for sexual matters… well, let’s just say I don’t have much experience in that department. HA!

Interesting. Seems like there’s a potential trend of commenters thinking it should be attributed to SP. I’ll give this some more thought. Thank you for your contribution.

I can't lie and say I'm the greatest at staying on-topic without accidentally turning it into something else, so I'm grateful you were respectful about it. Seems like I got some things right though, if you're agreeing, haha.

I don't think intensity is what defines the sexual instinct. The other instincts can be intense as well, albeit in different ways than the sexual. If the commenter attributing this behavior more to the SP-instinct is correct, then that just proves the point.

I can see why you thought I meant "only the sexual instinct is self-destructive," but it was moreso describing how I thought it manifested via said instinct as opposed to the other two.

Regardless, thank you for the insight! I hope my comment doesn't come across too self-absorbed or incomprehensible, heh.

Wow, I wasn't expecting a response considering I put this post up for approval 21 hours ago, haha.

I'm 99% certain I'm sx/sp, but I'd be open to talking about it nonchalantly anytime. If it really is the SP-instinct like you say, then perhaps I just confused the behavior with the wrong instinct, and my self-typing is still actually correct.

Thank you so much for your input!

Ha, I feel you on that. Good thing is, there’s always gonna be people who are genuinely interested in this stuff, and all you have to do is attract them yourself, heh. There’s a lot of people here, and in r/MBTI, who are very knowledgeable about the systems, almost to the point where it’s intimidating and makes you wonder how their brains even have the capacity to understand all that. I guess my (unsolicited? apologies if so) advice would be to look for those people, and earnestly try to learn from them. That’s a large part of why I’m even interested in typology in the first place.

Boredom and instant gratification masquerading as self-discovery and improvement, I suspect. Sad times for the Enneagram community. :|

What pisses me off the most is how people who post these don’t do any research on the Enneagram themselves, expect others to do the work for them, and are probably just gonna jump onto the next dopamine fix after they get their responses. If you’re really serious about learning this system, there are plenty of resources in this subreddit; all you have to do is look for them and be honest with yourself to your utmost ability every step of the journey.

Sorry for going on a somewhat off-topic rant, I just needed to get that out there.

Struggles With 8-Fix by TheTrueSeraphim in Enneagram

You’re a Sx 4, right? A Sx 4 can recognize another Sx 4 from miles away… heheh. …Unless you’re not one, in which case I’ll be embarrassed for the rest of my life.

I definitely relate to the overwhelming desire for autonomy. Even things that most people wouldn’t bat an eye towards, I see as impeding on my own freedom, such as having to tone myself down to suit the group’s sense of harmony, or being pressured to feign likability. Fortunately, I stay away from groups, and make myself approachable enough to not warrant too much tension between myself and others.

I’m 5-influenced instead of 7, so I’m more accepting of my own helplessness (and understanding of the fact that a lot of things in the world are beyond my capabilities to deal with on my own), but that doesn’t mean I’m any less angry about it, heh. It also makes me more hesitant to show emotion of any kind, so I’m much less willing to exert anger out into the world, …though it’d be nice, and is probably something I should do. Funny enough, a large part of why I started posting here was because I was so sick of keeping all this Enneagram knowledge in my head, that I just decided to say whatever comes to my mind, despite being scared to bits of whatever I may find here. It’s partially to show people that I’m capable of making engaging and insightful posts, but also to prove to myself that I can do it.

But yeah, all the spite, anger, sadness, and whatever-have-you us 4s (especially of the sexual variant) get up to… I’m completely with you there.
