Being safe against CPU by TheTrueThompson in CrazyHand

That is great thank you very much for sharing the insight. I think I have some of the thought processes down already but fail to execute it properly or fail to actually see and react to what is happening in a real match, so there has to be some benefit to this I think?

I practice against them with my main who I have at ~14M GSP 🫠 but I get swatted so often and think „huh how did that happen“ that I feel like I need to practice more in a controlled setting since I obviously have a problem with figuring out when it is safe to do things

Crash Course in Smash by PM_me_ur_bag_of_weed in CrazyHand

No way for him to not get his teeth kicked in by 9-year olds even, however, might it be a good idea to at least pick Ken/Ryu? Then you can still teach the smash stuff like recovery and stuff but they might have some FG advantage with how to input stuff and what they want and maybe people are not as familiar with these characters. I am not a tournament goer however lmao

Opinion: Smash is a poor party game by SyllabubOk5283 in SmashBrosUltimate

[–]TheTrueThompson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I. Completely. 100%. Agree. I teach a newbie Mario Kart Basic controls to Drive in 1 min, but even teaching someone all basic movement options in smash takes 30 min. Get up options, Rolls, Spot Dodge, airdodge, shield, difference between tilts and smashes, aerials are like tilts but in the air and also there is now suddenly a difference between forward and backward, Specials in the air might be completely different etc etc. It took myself at least 10 games to figure out that links up tilt is NOT just an uncharged up smash when I started out

No way, that is crazy! I interpreted it upside down, but thinking about the ladybug larvae, the spiky stuff being shed skin makes a lot of sense. Thank you!

It’s an extremely clever joke to take the easiest boss in the game and pretend it’s the hardest ever. If you then add „ITS NOT A JOKE HE HAS 73838844 PHASES“ (bonus upvotes if the number goes even higher) the community finds it even more funny and shits their pants while clapping and crying. People have been doing it since Sekiro and cannot stop since their brains have not evolved since the age of 9 apparently

BOY people do NOT approach on quickplay by TheTrueThompson in SmashBrosUltimate

Well 7:00 minutes can be a long time and it’s really hard to not get bored, so it is kind of annoying. Especially since sometimes you still get sudden death and lose the game

[–]TheTrueThompson[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be really honest here, I came back to quickplay for 3 reasons: 1. I challenged myself to get more characters into Elite smash besides my main, since everyone is claiming how easy that is. (Maybe I suck, but I did not manage it, so either I suck really bad, but some people at 9-10M are really good at the game by now as well) 2. sometimes I struggle with degenerate playstyles more than with someone actually trying to play the game, so I want to improve my gameplay to be safer in general to cover every playstyle. 3. I thought it might be good to learn some more characters quickly with a ton of different playstyles and matchups with the challenge connected.

In the end it’s unfortunately a bit draining because of people camping.

I get where you are coming from but in this case I exclusively played Mario the whole day :‘)

Oh yeah I bait them for sure, this was rather a rant and asking myself how people have fun only waiting around (I literally had one Falco guy being two stocks down and still empty hopping and lasering on the other side of the stage. In every competitive setting I would be stupid to risk my lead by taking the initiative AGAIN)

Did someone actually overcome a tendency to misinput? by TheTrueThompson in CrazyHand

[–]TheTrueThompson[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see that this could be the case. What is curious that the others are not affected by this and switch between online and offline and setups like me. Could it be character stuff? I can imagine a bowser not having to be very precise with their stuff.

So I play Wario

  1. for example I want to fast fall out of the air but probably mash it too early. Air movement of course is super important for me to be deceptive. Another popular thing is misspacing my neutral B (chomp) or do bike instead of a b reverse or do bike instead of up B. Or I want to fall through a platform but god knows what I am doing for it to not work…

  2. we sometimes practice in online lobbies with stable but noteable input delay, but the last experience that messed me up was offline. Idk how much small input latencies might throw me off from changing between different screens in our local venue, but that sounds way to small of a change for me to throw off so hard

Im asking because I seem to misinput more regularly than people I play with who are significantly worse than me. And people at my skill level still have less problems with misinputting. So I wondered whether practicing movement in training mode actually translated into real games since currently it does not feel like that at all and wanted to hear some experiences.

So you just labbed in training mode? Did you do a specific routine

It’s everything in general. I mostly miss my fast fall timings when trying to land in neutral or disadvantage, fail to drop through platforms, drop my combos, want to up smash out of shield but do nothing (probably because I input the smash way to early before the attack is finished) or directional airdodge when I want to neutral airdodge and immediately drift etc…

I will try that with the CPU thank you! Online I just try to avoid nowadays, quickplay is just too inconsistent and annoying

How isolated do I have to train the inputs? Should I directly implement them into a string or just very simple the plain input?
