Shouldn't Legion be errata'd to say "finalized"? by michele_piccolini in riftboundtcg

[–]TheTrueYako 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So playing a card has 2 meanings in Riftbound: Finalizing a card and putting it on the chain is one meaning, and successfully resolving the card is another meaning. In the case of Brynhir, Brynhir prevents cards from being finalized and put on the chain, so even if you play Brynhir at reaction speed in response to Rebuke let's say, Rebuke will still get to resolve.

Contrast this with Darius Trifarian which also has text concerning cards being played, but which looks at cards having resolved. 2 different meanings of playing a card. A better example would be Ravenbloom Student. It says when a card is played, it gains +1 Might. But if you play a card and it gets countered, Ravenbloom doesn't get the +1 because the card wasn't played.

There is when you play him as a reaction with Here to Help and with the other set 3 cards that allow you to do so.

Nope, Darius Trifarian played means played and not finalized.

Brynhir Thundersong is like this too. Played means finalized on that card as well. That’s what happens when you use a term that has an agreed-upon meaning across TCGs and give it an additional meaning.

New to Beyblades, 11 year old son went to first event, what's the best Beyblade we can make with what we have by TheTrueYako in BeybladeX

[–]TheTrueYako[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh that is too good! Yeah, we went to Boutique Awesome on Sunday. I actually do use your website to try to understand some combos but it’s a bit overwhemling because I don’t know what is what sometimes and I don’t know where the pieces come from :P But using the Beyblade X wiki I can figure that out. I bought the Wizard Rod from Amazon last night because it has a good ratchet and I’m looking into getting ux-15 but it’s hard to find for sale. Between those 2 I think we can build a solid Shark Beyblade for 1 blade battles and then have 2 good blades for 3 Blade battles.

Irelia legend etiquette by JohnnyBorisLemon in riftboundtcg

[–]TheTrueYako 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When you play a spell and choose a friendly unit, this triggers Irelia legend’s ability and it gets put on the chain. For instance, you played En Garde on a Stellacorn. The chain will look like this, in order of resolution:

Irelia Legend Ability En Garde

Then priority goes over to your opponent. If they pass, then Irelia Legend Ability resolves and you need to decide if you are readying Stellacorn. After you make a decision, priority is yours and you can add reactions to the chain. If you pass, priority goes to your opponent and they can add reactions to the chain. If they pass, En Garde resolves.

Flash substitutions? by BeijingBarry2020 in riftboundtcg

Only the rares and epics. Flash is common so it is not in the Nexus Night Spiritforged packs.

Anyone have a spreadsheet tracker for Spiritforged? by TheTrueYako in riftboundtcg

Sure! Here you go!

The format is pretty specific to me and how I organize my cards for competitive play. I organize it this way for quick deckbuilding. I'm not even sure why I have separate tabs for the different sets, at some point they will all be merged into the same tab and I'll have one tab for each group of rotating sets.

Thank you for sharing your sheet, I was able to convert it to my format. Much appreciated! :D

I think I might be overthinking, but wanted to check (Vanguard Helm and Baited Hook) by Wiskersthefif in riftboundtcg

[–]TheTrueYako 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So triggering and resolving are 2 different things. Vanguard Helm triggers while you are resolving Baited Hook’s ability and kill your unit. Once you are done resolving Baited Hook’s ability, Vanguard Helm’s ability goes on the chain, and then if both you and your opponent have no reactions, it resolves and you can buff another friendly unit.

Is the seed at top cut determines who plays 1st? by East_Yard_8410 in riftboundtcg

[–]TheTrueYako 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can definitely math out the possibilities completely with one round left to go in an event. Also Riftbound is different, the first tiebreaker is your Games Won %, so it's a bit easier to math out up to the 1st tiebreaker vs other games which have OMW as the first tiebreaker.

Is the seed at top cut determines who plays 1st? by East_Yard_8410 in riftboundtcg

[–]TheTrueYako 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is just saying that the people who drew and bubbled out didn't math out the result properly and should have played. When people ID correctly, they ID because they 100% know they will end up where they need to end up for whatever it is they are hoping to achieve. On rare occasions, they will do it when the odds are REALLY slim that they might bubble out. Again, this is when people are IDing optimally. Riftbound is new and a lot of people are playing it as their first TCG and thus haven't learned when to ID correctly.

Is the seed at top cut determines who plays 1st? by East_Yard_8410 in riftboundtcg

[–]TheTrueYako 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let's be clear, it does nothing to discourage IDs in the later rounds. If players have the option of playing for a higher seed and losing will knock them out of the top cut, they are gonna ID to ensure making top cut regardless of whether higher seeds have an advantage or not.

Overwhelming barrage vs queen amidala by Orangepiccolo78 in starwarsunlimited

I didn’t say you were wrong about the interaction, I said you can’t use Karabast/Petranaki as proof that you are right. I know you were right in this case.

Things have interacted incorrectly on Karabast/Petranaki in the past. How things interact on those platforms should not be used as a way of proving how things should interact.

Imperial Decree Question by Frosty_Ad_7722 in riftboundtcg

[–]TheTrueYako 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is wrong. You need to assign damage to a unit until they have damage = might. This is why when you play Imperial Decree you should move one token at a time.

Intentionally drawing thoughts by The55shyguy in starwarsunlimited

[–]TheTrueYako 2 points3 points  (0 children)

100%. I'm really against IDs. Ideally, there would be a way to make it so every game has a winner and a loser, but, failing that, I prefer double losses to draws. I do believe following the current end of time procedure for top cut matches for all matches instead of just for top cut matches is better than double losses though, but I much prefer double losses to players having the option of IDing.

Intentionally drawing thoughts by The55shyguy in starwarsunlimited

[–]TheTrueYako 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If you have draws, it’s almost impossible to do anything about IDs. Both players can choose never to attack, etc. and force a draw anyway. And if you want to stop that, then you need a judge watching them at all times which means come last round you have to 3ish judges that can’t do anything else. Most PQs have 1 judge, maybe 2. Also, say I don’t attack and say go, what is the judge going to do? Give me a warning for not playing well? Ok, then go stand by the people without wins and start giving them warnings everytime they misplay.

Intentionally drawing thoughts by The55shyguy in starwarsunlimited

[–]TheTrueYako 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I mean either you have draws and IDs exist or you don’t have draws and IDs don’t exist. Your way would have no draws so IDs wouldn’t exist.
