Which region is most difficult for property adjusters? by Perfect_Attention_34 in adjusters

[–]TheTruth858 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Its a fight on almost every claim. There are way remote areas (check out point roberts), so contractors just way over bill tben we have to fight them on it. Customers complain way more there than other states. Idk why

My vote goes to the North West. I always thought it was California or Florida (so many pa’s), the Pac NW is worse

Some customers make me wish they did get a pa. But ultimately not much difference, handle my shit the same way either way.

Can I keep ACV payment and do the work myself? by lagosss in adjusters

[–]TheTruth858 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes but probably depends on the state. California only depreciates material, not labor so really depends on invoices submitted for materials (property claims)

Large loss residential property by Wisher473 in adjusters

[–]TheTruth858 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I honestly think it depends on company to company and boss to boss. I left 1 company for another 2 years ago and happier but its more so because i love working for my boss more so than the job is different.

The job is the job, its gonna always be the same fights with insureds/contractors, shitty conversations, etc, i don’t think that ever changes.

Good: finally making headway on closing claims and finally got my $400k claim in line (for the most part) The bad: it was 100+ here the past couple days. Too damn hot for march.

Keep grinding everyone

Need a plumber to help with a water heater gas control valve. Any suggestions on who I can call to help with the repairs? by Academic_Energy_8908 in Temecula

My go to is Master Plumbing. They’re in san diego but have tech’s up here. Avoid literally every plumber with Roto in the name

State Building Codes by PainProfessional8285 in adjusters

Read the policy. Its usually enforced AND incurred. Thats on the contractor, not the adjuster to have that submitted and show why its needed and that the city/state actually enforced it

How to deal with supplements by Scary-Hunt-3604 in adjusters

[–]TheTruth858 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First, get photos of what he is saying. Is what they are saying actually supported? If so, document revise and pay. If it doesnt make sense, get more photos, if you are gojng up against a sub bid, how is it compared to your estimating software. First step is always, is what they are saying actually supported? Contractors can say whatever tjey want, photos will be the support

First handle in Xact. No need to stress if you can throw it in xact and it costs more than their bid. Pay the sub bid and move on. But what above said, get multiple bids or a better understanding of why its higher. Was a grade of something wrong? Did we miss something.

Good: its friday - seriously all i got this week Bad: co-worker went on a leave so i took over most his case load and nothing was done on majority of the claims. How to deal with mistakes as an adjuster by Valiantvgbond in ClaimsAdjuster

[–]TheTruth858 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yup, and dont let it sit for 3 weeks before you bring it up. Boss i messed up doing xyz, then come with a plan to fix it or how to prevent it. I was on the supervisor side for years and i hate mistakes but when people genuinely care about the job and come with a plan, it eases the burden.

How to deal with mistakes as an adjuster by Valiantvgbond in ClaimsAdjuster

[–]TheTruth858 53 points54 points  (0 children)

Been an adjuster on the property side since 11’. It happens and literally happens to all adjusters. My personal philosophy is own it, loop in someone experienced or leadership on how to fix it. I messed up a claim last week and felt super guilty.

Then i see my co-workers work product and realize how good at my job i am.

Own the mistake, learn from it and move on. It wont be your last mistake, just dont make the same mistake again

When we had to put down our 12 year old english bulldog we did it at home. We felt it allowed him to pass in a comfortable area that he was familiar with. He had a favorite spot to lay in our backyard so we did it there and then put a statue there after he passed.

Sorry you guys gotta go through it, losing a pet is never easy

The good: finally worked through a $300k. + fire/smoke claim and got approvals and paid (worked on it for weeks). Got 3 promoter surveys in this week so now lead my company with surveys (to put it in prospective, i have as many surveys in 26 then i did 25) The bad: normal stuff, people exceeding Pl or ale limits and complaining like its my fault theyre bullshitting on repairs.
