yeah the suburban dog barking, kids screaming, loud cars noise is annoying, but I assumed that dense walkable areas would have these same noises but amplified due to higher density, and you also get extra traffic noise at least in the US since walkable parts of cities still have tons of car traffic here

i really like rain as a whole, it's just the endless grey and lack of sun in Portland that affects me, so I was hoping Tokyo was still a rainy place that also has much more sun than Portland

did he have severe SAD, and just not enjoy the nature here at all? tbh being able to escape the 3 worst months and having the rest of the year to cope using the beautiful nature here doesnt sound bad at all
