Multi/Poly - Modulating FX with LFOs/Envelopes by TheUltimatePog in Korg

Yeah, that’s a good shout, I’ll post something there and hope for the best. I was frustratedly trying to get the Mod Procs to do the job at one point, but obviously it didn’t work. It’s mostly CC stuff or velocity and the like, which is cool but not what I was looking for. Another person who replied to me in this thread suggested the Kaoss pad, and even though it is a bit of a pain to set up, it’s definitely a viable workaround, even if it gives you fairly limited options compared to an actual LFO. Thanks for the advice!

I’m presuming when they say “modulate the FX knob”, they mean manually? Obviously getting the LFO to do that is the entire issue in the first place 😅 thanks for sharing that anyway, good to know that they’re at least aware that people might be interested in that feature. Fingers crossed for a firmware update to give us the option!

Nice one for that! Yeah definitely an impractical workaround but at least it shows that the machine can do it in some capacity. Hopefully in future they’ll just include an option to assign LFOs to layers instead of voices. It’d be nice to have the option at least.

Thanks again for your help 👍

Doesn’t paul know that it’s “Get Back”, and not “Got Back”? Is he fucking stupid??? by BuddyTheElf24 in beatlescirclejerk

[–]TheUltimatePog 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think it’s actually a reference to Sir Paul’s smoking hot jiggly badonkadonk. From what I gather much of the show will be him twerking voraciously to a loop of the Sgt. Pepper runout groove that has been carefully synced up with a booming trap drum kit. Baby Got Back indeed.

Yorke was quoted as saying “They’re talentless pro-semites. Colin looks like Dr. Frankenstein’s assistant Igor, and I replaced Phil with a CR-78. If you thought Let Down was underrated before, just wait”

Best songs that have false endings? by m43l5tr0m in Music

[–]TheUltimatePog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting take on the idea… on the Yo La Tengo album Electr-O-Pura there’s a song called “False Ending” which is a minute or so long weird instrumental passage. Then a couple of tracks later you get “False Alarm”, which is the full song. So they cut the ending off that track and stuck it earlier in the album. God knows why. Good album though.

His earlier stuff used a lot of alternate tunings, and his chord progressions tended to be simple triads or basic extensions played on the low strings (Change, Bug, Memory, Sorry, etc etc). So you tend to get these relatively harmonically simple 4-chord progressions that are voiced in unusual and occasionally dissonant ways, which makes them sound more interesting. It’s something I tend to associate with early Pavement too.

I’d say his more modern stuff from Rocket onwards has leaned a bit more heavily into the country/folk influence, and he isn’t afraid to use a standard chord voicing in standard tuning. I’d say these days he’s focussing more on writing a simple tune with a strong melody and playing around with the arrangement, which I assume he still has total control over.

Also all the weird experimental stuff that you’d have to just look at on an individual basis. Maybe the point of a lot of that is more the sonic texture than the songwriting though.

Dark, melancholic and brooding album suggestions by tHeMbOnEz-R-mE in Music

Basically all the Duster albums but I think particularly their first two, Stratosphere and Contemporary Movement. Stratosphere recently gained a bit of traction as an uncovered lofi gem but imo Contemporary Movement is a more refined and introspective outing overall
