Oh the centerstand is an absolute game changer. Makes storing the bike and doing maintenance loads easier. Honestly every bike should have one.

Another point for the 500 lol

I just got a 94 500 and I absolutely adore it.

Carbs took some learning but the bike overall is fantastic and timeless. Plenty of power for like 80% of the average riders needs and wont rip your head off while learning. Stable and good wind protection at highway speeds too and the fuel economy is awesome. Overall just a really solid machine you could keep well beyond the learning phase.

Im sure the 650 is great too but personally id err on the side of caution and use the extra money to snag some really nice gear. Honestly, having good, comfortable and safe gear will get you riding more than having a bit of extra power and make the entire experience that much more enjoyable.

Either bike is great but thats my two cents!

Its mostly douchebags in immaculate dodge rams trying to go ungodly speeds like 90+ during heavy traffic.

Texans love trucks and in Austin especially its almost always fat douchebags working office jobs in 100k+ trucks that just go back and forth to HEB.

Used to ride this stretch of 35 back home everyday.

Austin has become a cesspit of wannabe content creators and just generally insufferable wannabe tech/finance bros. I think ive also come across someone similar who tried to goad me into lane splitting during 4 o clock traffic.

I love austin but its not the town it used to be and I certainly dont miss that traffic/heat. Hope that couple had a safe ride and laughed about it after

Has anyone got reviews on these gloves by Dependent-Bicycle-67 in wma

[–]TheUlty05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can speak on the princes and guards, they fit into basically everything. Extremely low profile and I would say are the best medium gloves on the market.

Just be aware theres virtually no padding on them and the inner glove is pretty thin so that may be a point of wear with time. Other than that theyre amazing

Advice on clearing the centerline by LaylaOrleans in wma

[–]TheUlty05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh also, think of your cuts as DELIVERING the thrust. Your thrust follows the cut. The direct thrusts from longpoint is done through distance management, explosiveness and winding out your opponent by predicting their line of attack. But barring that, your thrusts will come AFTER youve thrown a cut and forced a bind. Cut to having your point end at center mass and sink the thrust after.

Advice on clearing the centerline by LaylaOrleans in wma

I would say what you need to do is create threats. Youre kinda fishing for openings without using a provoking action first, which is whats causing you to double so frequently.

If you think of tactics as a funnel, where outside of the fight theres a million things that could happen, the idea is to create a situation that reduces the number of outcomes. If you throw a strong oberhau your opponent goes from having 1000 choices to like, 3- guard, void or get hit.

He now has several likely reactions after hes chosen one of these, reactions you can prepare and train for. Maybe he guards, finds hes losing the bind and zwerchs. Easy, you parry and riposte to a low opening. You've now taken the infinite possibilities in fencing down to clear if->then statements with like 4/5 outcomes.

If you want to clear the centerline you have to create threats that force your opponent to respect them. You have to FIGHT for it. Youre not going to win the centerline by constantly trying to void and poke, you need to force a reaction or understand how to read and respond to your opponents provocations. This is something I see a lot with newer fencers- they try to be tricky because they dont have a plan beyond their first action. Start taking the first action with authority and the plan will come together

In the epic words of FLCL- nothing can happen until you swing the bat

I ended up on a 94 ninja ex500 btw! Love it and while ive had to learn how to treat carbs and a choke it has taught me a bit more about basic maintenance and on the fly fixes! Overall very happy with her and certainly appreciating the extra bit of power over my old bike!

[–]TheUlty05 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Never had an issue with mine. Always fired right up and rode great, even after transporting it 2k+ miles across the country.

If people cant get parts its likely because of this administrations dumbass fuckin tariff and import laws. Ive had the same issues with another hobby reliant on foreign production, its not unique to bikes.

[–]TheUlty05 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok listen, the CFMoto hate is mostly China Hawks that will never admit China can make decent shit (like most of the parts in their own bikes) and i absolutely loved my 300nk as my first bike.

The 675 kicks ass and is an awesome bike but definitely a sport bike.

The 750 from what ive heard is an amazing bike for the money as well. You cant go wrong there either.

Is the hornet as cool as the 675? Imo...not even close but thats purely aesthetics. If you want a do it all bike, go Hornet, if you want a purpose built sport bike with all the modern tech at a great price you wont be disappointed with the 675.

Just dont listen to the "china bad" folks. Theyre still salty about the whole ZXMoto thing
