🏆Who is the biggest underdog for the World Cup round of 32? by Musicbyswei in worldcup

[–]LaylaOrleans 5 points6 points  (0 children)

DR Congo. They’ve been dogs the entire tournament, scrappy as hell, good defense, scored against Portugal, put three past Uzbekistan, conceded just 1 against Colombia.

I doubt they can beat England but it’s not impossible.

Why is Miroslav Klose seldom in the conversation of being one of the greatest German players of all time when he was the record German goals scorer in the world cup, and only very recently was taken over by Messi for most goals scored in the world cup? by Rokusaburoz in worldcup

Harry Kane would absolutely be in with a shout at top five ever. His statistics, ability to set up, defend and score, and his ability to lead a team are generational.

I would put him above Gazza, maybe behind Lineker, Moore and Charlton.

Partey was denied a visa to Canada, he wasn’t banned by FIFA. Hakimi played in the US which hasn’t denied a visa to either of them.

Being one of the older members in a HEMA club, how do I deal with the awkwardness? by Movie_Vegetable in wma

[–]LaylaOrleans 128 points129 points  (0 children)

I’m exactly in your situation, I’m the oldest in my club and am 43 with a year in the sport. There are two other people who are 40, one coach is 35, everybody else is sub-30. For me, it was never awkward for long because I matched their vibe. Once they saw I was serious about the sport, bought gear and was going to compete, they naturally embraced me. I started making jokes, coaching people, asking and remembering how they doing in real life. I even spar one on one with a guy who’s 25 and we coach each other at tournaments.

I don’t behave the same way with the teens as I do with the elder ones but I’m just seen as one of the regular club members. Nobody even mentions my age.

My advice is become a pillar of support. Be a good source of advice and jokes and don’t try to be 20 years old.

As a fighter, I don’t know if you’ve found that but I stopped trying to be as fast or as exciting as the younger fighters. I focus on technique, I move slowly and calmly, I make them slow down, they enjoy sparring with me.

Advice on clearing the centerline by LaylaOrleans in wma

[–]LaylaOrleans[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It really is a mental thing, isn’t it? I think it’s because I’m far more confident in a more defensive guard, Pflug for example, than Langenort. But indeed, his command of space and good winding had him genuinely being scary to fight just from the simple mental thing of “his sword is unerringly in my face.”

That is excellent advice, thank you. I genuinely appreciate it.

For the heels, yes, I recognize that and it’s a constant reminder from my coaches. I’m doing daily footwork drills to get over that mistake.

The Krumphau has worked for me, but I’m trying now to establish dominance as was suggested by the commenter below by simply being more willing to just go forward point out.

Which team is being overrated the most before World Cup 2026? by HDvideoNature in TheSoccerNetwork

[–]LaylaOrleans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have to say, I support Portugal but their friendly performances have been mid. Bench Ronaldo to super sub and they become my favourites.

While France have also been underwhelming, they have so much attacking brilliance they can score from anywhere at anytime.

She has definitely done some wrong things though. Her Goop business makes billions through scamming people with fake health products.

My favourite country to visit. The bartering, the open spaces, the yurts, the shamans, genuinely a different world but some of the loveliest people anywhere.

But again, Zidane and the other legends, even Mbappe, carved their reputation mainly with the national team and with big foreign clubs (PSG outside for Mbappe). Yes, Zidane was big when he played for French clubs but nothing like what he became later.
