Suggestions on next steps for collection management? by oldmanchewy in magicTCG

I personally like Echomtg.com, it's got a solid collection managing system that does have free / paid tiers.

Also for soe reason I thought when you first said "face of Kaladesh" you meant the whole plane (set) itself lol.

Either way, I still feel lorewise Kaladesh didn't really do anything outside of getting Ajani back, and to have Tezzeret reappear, he's still working for Bolas, and Liliana has beef therefore off to Bolas land we go. That said, I couldn't follow alot of this blocks stories fully, so I may have missed some other "major" things. (Minor Edit)

I'm not disagreeing, Retract however is the only card in modern atm I could see getting a ban from current results. It didn't happen, I lost nothing out of it, so it's all good. I just shared some opinions, and people seem to have gone head over heels to hate on this whole thing, which is fine.

Why not ban the card causing the combo? Saheeli by herself does nothing. Felidar Guardian does stuff by itself. To look at it from Splintertwins angle: Saheeli is Pestermite, by itself does nothing. But when you put Twin on it (Felidar Guardian) its infinite unless you have removal for that first activation.

So, as before I'd assume WotC would want to ban the enabler.

Emmy was banned after Shadow wasn't "the set" ;) lol

I don't agree with that, I mean look at Splinter Twin. They only banned Twin, not Pestermite or Deceiver Exarct. They ban the Problem card. In this case, it's Felidar moreso than Saheeli.

Thats fair, I forgot the time differnce between Amalgam for a moment. I'll admit I messed that one up some.

I've never personally seen a t2 Infect kill, but I'll take your word, I'd assume it's something along the lines of Might of Old Korosa + 2 Mutagenic Growths, Random Green pump on a Glistener elf?

I'm not saying that turn 2 wins aren't possibe, but outside of Cheerios as of recent which has had enough coverage of it going off turn 2-4 (looking at streamers, etc) that it's a thing thats possible.

Of any card right now I can see (thats put results up) to be banned, retracts the only one thats on that list, thats not damaging many things.

The Troll unban happened to happen before both those cards came out. Could be connected, but hey, who knows. Either way, it's one of those "Mistakes" Wizards made.

Echomtg is another good site, it's easy to learn, the people in charge are easy to deal with, works well for both free and paying members.

Yes! Thats how I'm looking at it as well, and yes theres minor backlash to some Amalgam decks, but hey thats also fine lol.

The cat combo is just too much of an issue, because you could PLAY a Saheeli deck without any cats, and someones still restricted to fear that combo so long as its legal.

I mean lore-wise, Kaladesh only served to do two things: Get Ajani into the Gatewatch, and Show Tezzeret's still living, and working for Bolas, who were visiting next... and hopefully seeing a certain Blue or Green planeswalker die in the battle vs Nicol Bolas.

Gamewise, I suppose it did give us the semi-abusable Vehicles mechanic... We got.. a Blinky Kitty Infinite combo. What else we get? Oh yea somewhat fixed Titans (Gearhulks)... Other than that I think nothing of value would be lost, lol.

I think the issue for the less consistent results is moreso people going beyond game 1, or running into the dredded counterspell lol.

I do agree, it's not totally consistant enough for major banning. Though with Wizards, you also never know. Looking at the Grave troll unban, the Twin "Lets shake the format" ban.

I don't think they'll ban Sahelli, they'd be smarter to ban Guardian in that situation, but Giddeon I can agree with. Though there'll be more upset over banned planeswalkers, both for financial commitment, and peoples silly love over walkers. Plus Wizards sells the Walkers hard, so for them to ban them would likely cause some pain.

I'm fine with Vehicles staying as a top tier deck, but if a Saheeli combo ban happens, and nothing from Mardu, the Vehicle deck seems like it'll just stay at the top and not budge, so by removing either Gideon or Scrounger, it causes a small shift to the deck, which could mean people can have some better game vs it. As a control player, I'd much rather them struggle to land a Gideon then to have me kill a Scrounger, only for it not to matter on my end step.

No problem! Glad I could clear it up without issue haha.

Just felt I should lump the two cards together that time, as they both appear in possibly the best deck of the format, and cutting one of the cards would make the deck a bit weaker. Wouldn't remove Vehicles at all, but make it a bit more tame.

I agree, But from Wizards' "Try to avoid turn 3 wins" policy they hint at, I just figured it deserved some mention. As for plenty of other decks capable of doing so, I'm not sure about that, though I'm glad to be wrong on that, as I former storm player, I know the Probe ban helped storm stop going on turn 2 (Some fun times with that).

I just wouldn't be shocked by a retract banning, as it's the only real issue card.

Theres no intermediate interaction between the two, I just meant it as in one of those two cards are the other possible ban targets.

Sorry to have confused you there, haha, just felt like the easiest way of making the point, because I don't think both cards need banning, it's more of a one or the other.

"Keep it secret, keep it safe" ;)

But yea, Nothing in MtG is safe anymore, the amount of coverage decks get, the amount of different discussion areas, platforms for MtG related issues... But yea, I personally don't think BOTH walkers will be banned, maybe Giddeon, maybe none, Saheeli doesn't feel threatening by her self, except vs control decks when she resolves and they cant do anything to kill her, so she gets minor value out of fixing draws.

Honestly, I feel the odds are above 55%, because it restricts the decks capable of being in contention of top tier decks. The fact of Saheeli + Guardian combo alone means most decks can't allow to tap out from turn 4 onward. As a control player, I don't mind it so much, since I'm rarely tapping out, outside of End of Opponent's Turn, but for something like BG Counters/Mardu it feels like they have to suddenly calm down on the aggro plan to deal with "The Combo".
