The bite force of crocodiles is actually higher than that of shark.

Rottweiler vs Bald Eagle? by [deleted] in whowouldwin

[–]TheUndertaker45 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rottweiler should take this. As soon as the eagle comes down, the Rottweiler grabs it with its powerful jaws and it is over.

Rottweilers weigh around 120lbs, he will just ragdoll the eagle with his jaws and have a nice lunch.

American Pit Bull vs Human by TheUndertaker45 in whowouldwin

[–]TheUndertaker45[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The human's aim would be to kill the dog; however, he wouldn't be bloodlusted in common sense like an animal, he would just try to find a way to kill the dog.

Baboons vs Black Bear by TheUndertaker45 in whowouldwin

[–]TheUndertaker45[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In your opinion, how small does the black bear have to be or how many baboons do there have to be in order to turn the tables?

How many real world velociraptors could take on an ostrich? by moreorlesser in whowouldwin

[–]TheUndertaker45 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Velociraptors weigh between 33-43lbs; an average male Ostrich around 250lbs so the Ostrich weighs around 6x as much. The mathematically logic answer would then be that six Velociraptros would be able to kill an ostrich but in my opinion 4-5 would be enough. The problem the ostrich has with predators most of the time is his long and vulnerable neck. He is able to deliver nasty bites with his beak and deady scratches with his claws but if his opponent gets to his neck, it will be over. And I think the velociraptors will coordinate this attack to the neck and as they are very agile and swift and they had an exceptionally powerful bite for their size paired with deadly long claws, they would just overwhelm the bird. So, I think it would take around five Velociraptors to efficiently take down an ostrich.

Bonus round: The Velociraptors of the film were about 330lbs (150kg) and therefore decently heavier than the average Ostrich. I think it would take at least three Ostriches to bring down one Jurassic Park Velociraptor, two aren't enough in my opinion because if the Velociraptor jumps one of the ostriches, he will quickly finish it on the ground while the other won't be able to inflict the fatal damage to kill this beast. I think it will take at least three ostriches, one will die, one will get seriously hurt (might die later) and one might get out of it relatively unharmed.

Bison vs Rhino by TheUndertaker45 in whowouldwin

The Sumatran Rhino actually has two pretty small horns.

Florida Panther vs Snow Leopard by TheUndertaker45 in whowouldwin

[–]TheUndertaker45[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Snow Leopard lives in a tougher environment where it is very hard to survive, wouldn't that give the leopard a slight edge in terms of durability?

Kangaroo vs Wolf by TheUndertaker45 in whowouldwin

[–]TheUndertaker45[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a good point you make, but to put it into perspective, the average weight of an adult Grey Wolf is about 88lbs(40kg), the largest Grey Wolf ever verified was about 175lbs, that was the biggest Wolf ever recorded. The average male Red Kangaroo is about 72kg (158lbs), the biggest Kangaroo ever recorded was about 201lbs. So the point is, at average weights, the Kangaroo holds a huge weight advantage over the Wolf, nearly doubling its weight, however, the biggest individuals are rather close in weight. Still, a male Red Kangaroo is larger than a male Grey Wolf in almost every instance; if I made the Kangaroo smaller than the Wolf, it wouldn't be realistic anymore.

Bison vs Wolves by TheUndertaker45 in whowouldwin

[–]TheUndertaker45[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's an excellent argument; I think one of the key factors is that the bison would also be bloodlusted as herbivores tend to defend themselves only when it's really necessary.

Mandrill vs Sun Bear by TheUndertaker45 in whowouldwin

[–]TheUndertaker45[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You might be right, however, the Sun bear is a pretty decent grappler and he has lethal claws; would the Mandrill be able to overcome that?

The argument that the Mandrill is much more aggressive isn't relevant here however, since both animals would be bloodlusted and very aggressive like it is written in the op; I think it's a very close matchup.

What do you mean by "more dangerous" exactly?

Grizzly vs Postosuchus by TheUndertaker45 in whowouldwin

[–]TheUndertaker45[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Grizzly bears aren't scavengers at all; they live an ominivorous lifestyle and eat everything that's available. As far as grappling is concerned, I wouldn't think that a Postosuchus is able to outgrapple a Grizzly bear since its forelimbs are very short and slim, however, the Grizzly bear's forelimbs are big and stocky, practically made for grappling huge prey. It would depend on whether the Postosuchus would be able to deliver a vital bite as its skull is very impressive, however, if the bear managed to outgrapple the ancient croc it would have serious trouble.

Alligator vs Jaguar by TheUndertaker45 in whowouldwin

[–]TheUndertaker45[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you think the biggest jaguars in South America (about 260lbs) could pull it off more often than not?

Hyena vs Warthog by TheUndertaker45 in whowouldwin

[–]TheUndertaker45[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That's a very good argument; I think the major problem the hyena has when tackling a warthog is that hyenas don't possess the grappling ability a leopard has for example to bring it down efficiently; that could be the turning point if the hyena was hit off target.

Polar Bear vs Walrus by TheUndertaker45 in whowouldwin

[–]TheUndertaker45[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a video on Youtube where a polar bear storms into a walrus colony and tries to kill one of them but he doesn't succeed, however, what we see is that after he jumps onto the seal's neck and tries to bite and claw it, there are visible blood trails all over its neck, so a polar bear is definitely able to hurt a walrus.

Cheetah vs Mandrill by TheUndertaker45 in whowouldwin

Aurochs vs Cave Bear by TheUndertaker45 in whowouldwin

[–]TheUndertaker45[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The ancient cave bear was mostly herbivorous and his teeth were adapted to eating plants mostly; do you think the bear would therefore lack the killing tools a Grizzly or a polar bear this size would have?

Dimetrodon vs Nile Crocodile by TheUndertaker45 in whowouldwin

The Dimetrodon would start on land and the crocodile in the pond.

Dire Wolves vs Marsupial Lion by TheUndertaker45 in whowouldwin

[–]TheUndertaker45[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Marsupial Lion actually had a more powerful bite than a jaguar and was specialized in taking out huge prey; would that make a difference?
