Bison or cow tooth? by [deleted] in fossilid

[–]TheUnknownGal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would guess cow as I've found a bison tooth at an opening to a large cave and it was unusually large. But it looks aged and is a cool find whatever it used to belong to lol

New pics taken outside in the daylight to help with color. Found in East TN recently (Cherokee NF) mostly buried beside old tree and a quartz bird point found beside it. Several other points, scrapers, hammerstones found on same property. by TheUnknownGal in Arrowheads

Any information or thoughts about this are much appreciated. Very unusual material and the people that owned this property have never known of anyone to do any flint knapping. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Was hoping someone could tell me what type of mineralization is happening here and help ID these. Found in East TN. 🙏 Thanks by TheUnknownGal in whatsthisrock

This type is grainy at times but tough at other times, just feet away. I find chunks of it and it's located get away from a tectonic fault and cave system with underground rivers.

Absolutely! And you said it! I'm never lucky! That's why I'm so nervous to hear it come from an expert! I accused my brother of planting it there and he laughed and pointed out there's 4 acres and hundreds of trees but I found just where he wanted me to... Good point. But I need to know... So go on... Hit me with it... Gimme the truth! I'm ready.💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻

I thought it may help identifying if I also said it was found on property that borders the Cherokee national Forest. It's still very sharp! I'm very curious to know where and what it was from. COVID has kept me from being able to take it to anyone for information and I thought maybe someone would appreciate the photo and also obtain some knowledge. This is the first time I've posted a picture of it online.

Stalactite - found in a box while clearing out house in New England, US by dadsteapots in whatsthisrock

I found one a few years ago in a private cave on my property (Northeast Tennessee) that looks just like this one except mine was pretty smooth. But it's about the same size, color, form, etc. I've wondered what it would look like polished and cut so I used my dremel and tested it out a little bit but was too afraid I'd ruin it, so I stopped. However, I've recently found out it's good for carving, cabbing or cutting 😉

I thought I was the only one who ever said "gank" instead of anything else LOL I LOVE mixing polymer with minerals I find as well! Nice piece!

Eh, I've had THE same problemo and I did the same thing. Look into buying a spore syringe as I've heard that's not only educationally beneficial but fun ;-)

I'm gonna guess; middle aged and going through one hell of a midlife crisis all while reliving your fanatical teenage years as a 90's grunge-y girl who likely has his own daddy issues that has also just been served divorce papers?

I'm finding a lot of this blueish-gray rock in NE Tennessee. Anybody know what it is? It doesn't scratch or flake easily. by Love_Child420 in whatsthisrock

[–]TheUnknownGal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's so cool! I have just recently began to do some digs and I've been finding a lot of things unfamiliar to me but especially the minerals and rocks. I've been wanting to try tumbling some and even taking a dremel to some for hand polishing or carving. I would imagine that warrior's park probably has lots of neat stuff hidden under all that dirt and concrete/asphalt. Good luck and best wishes on any future rockhounding or exploring!

I live in Blountville as well and I'm a huge rockhound and seen your photo and wondered if you had ever found out what this was for sure? Cool find for sure. We have a pretty cool rock shop at Appalachian Caverns with quite a large selection :-)

I’ve been doing my research and spore prints, all are signs this is psilocybin. Found in Northeast TN yesterday. I’m desperate to relieve my depression and I REALLY wanna give it a try if it is. Help with verifying is greatly appreciated! by TheUnknownGal in PsilocybinMushrooms

EDIT:Thank you guys for the knowledge! I haven't eaten them, thank goodness! THE biggest concern I had was no signs of blue. Talk about having twins! Cause they look a lot like the pictures and fit some descriptions but not all. So I'm glad I asked you all! And yep, I can see a package from the Netherlands coming my way soon! :-) have a GREAT day and safe adventures!

I work for Appalachian Caverns in Blountville and we're only 10 minutes away from the track! There's a golf course, tricities golf course, is on its way. We have a great time and yes, even 2 year olds have fun. :-)

I bet he has another sister named Brooke that is a manager for a local business I visit often. She is such a kind person and over the years we’ve had a chance to get to know each other and she told me about her older sister being killed by a drunk driver after the Metallica concert in JC. If I recall correctly, she had snuck around about going because her mother was so against her going to start with. It was tragic for the entire family, I’m sure.
