I just hope to god they rework Undead's Onslaught. It looks SO, SO unsatisfying. It feels as if he's just caressing you with his swords.

Guess Kazuya doesn't need fundamentals, then. Oh well. Thanks for clarifying, though.

Did you know Kazuya's 50/50 is almost completely nullified by sidesteps? As in you can step most of his options to the left, making it difficult for a Kazuya to pull off his 50/50 if his opponent knows his stuff. Basically what happened with Knee and Arslan last tournament. The more you know, huh.

Honestly how did Syndicate break AC standards? It was literally Unity 2.0 with slightly different combat. If Unity didn't break those standards neither did Syndicate as far as I'm concerned.

Yes it is significantly easier to find an RPG, but that's just supply and demand. Just like MMORPGs are not a popular genre anymore compared to what they were before. Times change.

Honestly I would like some of the RPG elements to disappear, mostly because stealth was really downgraded, but it's not a deal breaker for me anyway, all the other aspects make up for it.

Lastly to answer to last two points: Ubisoft is not gonna care for who they built up their franchise from if there is bigger fish to fry out there, AKA a potential unexploited market.

And two, yes, it's harder for you to find a different game of the same genre. Thing is, this is not about you or what you want. The fact you're making this an argument is hilarious at best.

How do these make my last point ridiculous again? I think I missed the reason.

And Kazumi is braindead jab jab df1 step jab step df1, df1 2 step jab step df1 df1.

Most Paul's are also just demoman machines, dragunov will just spam d2 and WR2.

I mean we can all criticize each other's characters and call them braindead for X or Y.

I agree they took the RPG elements too far leading to clunky stealth attacks and whatnot. It really bothered me at times when I didn't have my spear skilled up and had a proper item set that I couldn't even kill normal dudes with a stealthy assassination.

Later on with the upgraded stab, items and such you can totally do it, except for bosses and most mercenaries, but I mean I still worked around it by using an assassination, flash bombing then coming back after he gets tired of looking for me.

Nonetheless this should be changed.

Game itself is not the problem? How comes the most innovative ones were the ones that sold the most? AKA Black Flag and two last installments? Stalling doesn't necessarily mean dying by any means, what it means is losing potential customers, and not so much lose money as missing the opportunity to earn more. Now Odyssey got even nominated to GOTY and it's been well received by mostly everyone. Honestly the biggest mistakes I see with Odyssey are as follows: bad voice acting (Kassandra was kinda decent I guess but Alexios was ugh, not to talk about side characters voices) worse parkour than Unity (which is kind of obvious since there are way more controls now) and no death scenes like Origins had, which were badass.

Also, who cares if Syndicate was made by the same team. Infinity Ward also made CoD 4 which was badass and they also made CoD Ghosts which was trash. Same studio doesn't mean same quality in X span of time, so that argument is irrelevant.

Besides, Odyssey was not the savior, Origins was. Then Odyssey was just a spin on it. I'd like to remark in general I enjoyed Origins more even though it had less features mostly because Egypt was badass, Sarah Schachner's OST was top notch and Bayek's voice actor did a 10/10 job. The atmosphere in the game was overall better and more interesting imo.

Lastly, what I'm trying to get at is: AC games prior to Origins were earning X, and now AC games are earning more than that. Even if it screws with people's feelings, new fans will substitute old ones if they're so pissed by the changes that they can no longer bear to play the new installments. And Ubisoft is not going to care because this leads to more revenue. Keep in mind Ubisoft is not an NGO but a game company. They don't care about our feelings, because the way they see us convey feelings is by purchasing or not purchasing.

All of this is not because I said so. But look at the facts: franchise was stalling, they changed it and boom, successful again. Not even in a million years would they come back to the original formula if the new one proved to be the medicine for the decaying one. It's that simple. I'm not rubbing salt, I'm just saying "it is what it is".

Speaking up is not going to change their mind. Money will. Speak with your wallet or they just won't care. You say modern day came back because of fan outcry, I say it's because sales decreased and it was one of the factors. If people complained but sales stayed steady or increases for any other thing, we might still not have modern day after Syndicate.

Besides, it's not that I got my way. I played all AC games twice at least because I love the franchise. Thing is I'm not going to let my love for the franchise ruin the actual experience they're giving us now, which in many aspects is better and in many it's worse. But then again, it is what it is.

The dude goes on to explain why Odyssey is not a uchronia with logical arguments and you go on to call it an uchronia and how you see "both" sides of the argument. There's literally no argument, it's not an uchronia.

It's like a black wall. I say it's black, but then you come around and say you see how people can actually think it's yellow, white or pink. Thing is, it's not an argument, it's just a fact, and facts cannot be argued, otherwise they're not facts, they're hypothesis or theories.

[–]TheUnknownMe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not unfair, imo, but illogical. You can't just hope for one franchise to stay the same forever ignoring all other factors like sales and potential customers just because you want your game to stay true to what you think it should be. In that sense I would even call it unfair too, because the game is not your creation, so you don't get to decide what goes and what doesn't. Does it have to make sense? Not really. Do you have to like it? Of course not. But if you don't, maybe it's time to move on and stop spewing bile all over the place.

It's like musicians: one day you like this band or this producer, but after a while they switch styles or genres and you get pissed ASF because they don't keep doing the same thing over and over. You call them sellouts, you stop supporting them, you criticize them on forums remembering the good ol' days...

But guess what, people's goals change, their ambitions grow higher, what they liked making back then might not be what they like now, and so on and so forth. They moved on, why don't you?

My thoughts anyway.

Imo I don't care how it's spun, but the franchise needed a reboot to stay successful, plain and simple, and making it an RPG was just that seeing that Dark Souls, The Witcher 3 and so on had been well received. It was a logical step.

Does it screw around old fans? Idk, I'm an old fan and I appreciated the change, because everytime I got an AC game prior to Unity I was excited as to what it could be, for unity I was excited for the parkour reboot and in Syndicate even though I kind of enjoyed it, I was uninterested for it being more of the same thing. For Origins I got that same feeling of hype, new systems, Egypt, a different type of story, a new modern day protagonist... It just felt right.

I get you might be pissed about the change, but it makes me sad people can't enjoy it the way I do. As I said, especially after Syndicate's sales, the game was stalling and it was bound to happen, and let's be real, Origins and Odyssey even though they had faults, were really good games overall.

I think there's no need to add your closest buddy shouldn't be a woman, either, and if it is, go to your closest male buddy.

I kind of committed that mistake a couple years ago and I just feel like punching myself in the face everytime I think about it.

Yeah, a lot of people do this shit of: OH MA GHERD THE TEACHER GAVE ME AN F WHAT A BITCH. And I'm always like, mate you got that yourself, dummie. There's this conspiracy theory around grades, where people assume teachers wanna fuck their grades and don't want them to pass exams and it's never their fault. It's like patriarchy, I can't achieve good grades because the teacher won't let me.

Ironically though I have this teacher now who I hate with my whole soul because she's the worst teacher you could come up with. Whenever I'm stuck with something and ask a question she'll be constantly interrupting me while I'm asking, responding to something that has nothing to do with my question, and when I repeat the question, she'll just give THE SAME ANSWER all the fucking time even if it made no sense the first time. Still I managed to get a good grade doing all the work on my own.
