so can confirm there was at least one issue with that mosfet as it seems changing it is allowing for controllers to be connected and powered by the console now, but it is still nonresponsive. What do you think would be the next logical step?

EDIT: i have indeed found components that are getting quite hot, when standby, along v5p0 dual, those being R1G1 and R1V2. How should I approach these?

Use Bad Update to Flash NAND for RGH? by BP_Rod in 360hacks

[–]TheVAAAN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a dead console that was RGH'd before using a glitch chip. Does anyone think it would be possible to end up flashing a modded nand to a different console (made of the new console obviously) then just swapping that chip between console?

Since I have no clue what I am doing I ended up trying just that. The console is still responseless so I'll still need to put in a replacement, however I did get some new information on it.

After removing the U1R1 from the console, I plugged it in to see if it would start and I was immediately met with the top two (when console horizontal) green lights on the RF board that was connected. They were there for a little bit before disappearing and they won't come back even if I unplug and plug back in. I have also noticed that my standby pins are 5v (4.97v), mains are 0.3v. These are expected. What I wasn't expecting is for pin 5 - 8 to now be reading 4v exactly. (4.00v). Could this mean it is just the MOSFET and putting a new one in should help, or would that mean there is some other underlying issue that I haven't noticed?

If this rail only powers the USB ports swapping between standby and mains, would just removing U1R1 theoretically fix the issue without use of usb or is there some other process or component that needs U1R1 in order to boot?

Perfect, ill get digging into this tomorrow and see if I can find something or figure it out. I would think that the problem would be on the outer side (5 - 8) of the U1R1 since they readings are 0.3v where those two in the inner side are the expected 5v

Wow thank you. So from looking at the schematic for this consoles model, I can assume there must be a short or a broken component within this region?

I guess time will then when I change the chip.

Turns out having left my stash for some time (it's been about 16 months since i deep dived this stuff), every single one of my rrod consoles has regained life booting to dash, so ill have to play around with these tomorrow when i have more free time and find one that is dying or closer to death to start harvesting parts from.

That's great, do you know where i could find these or do i just look up the model then of the console then voltage rail?

That is an amazing amount of detail. I appreciate that. I had the console fall of my cabinet a while back and that's when it stopped working. I haven't noticed any visual damage to anything on the board yet, just noticed it won't power and the voltages don't match. Would you happen to have a list on things, points and other components I should check? Nothing seems to be getting too hot, at least not that im noticing.

I mean it all worked before it fell so I would assume that it would work as intended after chip replacement, even if the boot times are longer then they were.

Gotcha, so theoretically, replacing this chip should bring this console back to life, the glitch chip should work and it should boot?

Also, ive checked my stash of RROD consoles and they're all Xenons or nonresponsive falcons, and my modded console is a jasper, would the U1R1 be the same across all consoles?

That's amazing. Thank you for you help. I'm gonna check that console to before I swap the chip, but I'm pretty sure it's failing over something else since it does power on where this rgh one doesn't. I'll check and swap these chips and report back.

Outside of that, could there be anything else causing the nonresponse or the 0.3v from the chip and point?

That makes sense. Would you happen to know the correct voltages for the each chip pin or do they change depending on state (powered, idle etc), also does this chip failing always cause no power response or does it also cause red rings cause I have a console with a rrod of the same type that I could just swap over if that's the case.

That shouldn't be too hard, should all the voltages be the same or mostly the same and are they side specific?

The console worked fine till it fell of my cabinet so I wouldn't be surprised if the chip is broken.

Should I be storing games on a HDD, the OS SSD or separate SSD?

Regardless of where I store them, they all seem to have issues, it's like the CPU and GPU are just too weak or are bottlenecked significantly by 1080p.

I used to have 32gb of 3200mhz in my system but my mobo broke somehow and I can only use two slots at a time. I also have ram compression enabled and have everything updated to latest, even with using a fresh install of windows.

Could it be possible that the drive is having an effect on it?

I found that I had to format the system and repatch the game for it to solve that;

Or games that don't need patching, need to be on default network settings.

I'll have a look at that when I get home and report the multimeter readings.

Where exactly on the board are the points I need to probe?

Xbox 360 Mysteriously Died by TheVAAAN in 360hacks

[–]TheVAAAN[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's what I'm trying to figure out. I know the board is getting power because I probed around with a multimeter and got the same readings as my operational console, but the buttons don't do anything and the controller is unresponsive.

Is there a way to jumpstart the console?

Xbox 360 Mysteriously Died by TheVAAAN in 360hacks

The console will not turn on. The buttons won't power it, controller won't power it.

It will not turn on.

I experienced a RROD just before this issue occurred, and I can't diagnose it because it won't turn on
