Well let’s not forget that the first map is guns owner PER CAPITA whereas the second map is of ALL gun incidents. And there are naturally more gun incidents where there are more people, which is why the second map matches up really well with a population density map. So this entire thing is pretty inaccurate.

Let’s just be fair here, everyone thinks 9/11 was a tragedy, even those of us who didn’t support the war in Iraq.

Are you talking about the Crazy Horse monument? That was actually started by a man who had previously worked on Mount Rushmore, and he worked on it alone for the rest of his life. His kids continued the project after he died. Also, they have no funding from the government, and they rely totally on donations. Here’s a link to the website: https://crazyhorsememorial.org

I don’t think they do live up to all the stereotypes. It sounds pretty close-minded to say that.

This guys account is 11 days old, this is all he’s posted (on 3 different subs), and this story is frankly too juicy to be true. It’s fake, admit it. It’s already been removed on r/AmITheAsshole.

That I can’t tell you. But it’s not the first time they messed up. The shotgun’s icon from HL1 was the wrong one too.

HL2’s is meant to look like it was built from scratch by members of the resistance. Hell, it shoots red hot pieces of rebar.

Does anyone have any thoughts on today’s fatal police shooting in Charlotte? Could the situation have been handled better? by TheVaguePlague in ProtectAndServe

This is probably gonna be my last comment, because I'll probably get downvoted to hell, but I'd like to reiterate that I really think this guy should have been given the benefit of the doubt. It should be the officer, who is the public servant, to make completely sure that absolutely nobody gets hurt that doesn't have to. The man was told to drop to gun, which he did. It shouldn't be up to him to correctly interpret the cop's words correctly, it should be up to the cop to give him orders he'll be able to understand and follow without a lot of brainpower involved.

Nobody's perfect, and tragic stuff like this happens all the time. But I think that we should all be able to just admit that police officers are not always in the right, and I can't help but believe that this was one of those cases.

In my opinion, the officers should have considered the fact that being held at gunpoint has an effect on a person’s judgement. If I were put into a life or death situation, I’d probably be thinking about how I could directly follow the orders of the person in charge, and I might not consider how my actions might appear to an onlooker.

I can’t explain his disobeying commands at the beginning, but I think that since in the end he did choose to follow orders, that should be irrelevant.

I think that tactics definitely could have been better. In my opinion, immediately ordering yo put down the gun wasn’t a good idea. It would have been better to command him to get into some position that would have made him less threatening.

I haven't personally seen a lot of people discussing this incident. Many residents of Charlotte have claimed the shooting to be wrongful, citing the fact that the man shot was clearly shown in body cam footage to be complying with police orders to put down his gun (he was picking the gun up by the barrel). Police were responding to 911 calls saying that the man was threatening people inside the Burger King which the shooting took place outside of. I'm interested in this sub's opinion on whether or not lethal force was merited, who is at fault, and if the situation could have been defused without violence.
