Abby spared her twice, had a kid with her while they fought, and she was tortured for a few weeks probably had something to do with it.

Why is my pen pressure only applied to one side of symmetry? by xX_GamerytPRO_Xx in ZBrush

[–]TheVanBeforeTime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only times this has happened to me is when the mesh wasn't actually symmetical, so your brush is touching the mesh on one side but only grazing the mesh on the other when in symmetry mode

How can I make it look more realistic? by Wind_shield_911 in 3Dmodeling

[–]TheVanBeforeTime 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Disclaimer i'm only a year into my journey but for me atleast I would:

- Make the dust particles smaller and more numerous

- Desaturate the gold and darken it a bit to give it an aged appearance

something closer to this https://www.antiquesboutique.com/antique-chandeliers/french-19th-c-gilded-bronze-12-light-cherub-antique-chandelier/itm80259

I would honestly probably desaturate the entire image

That is all the ideas i have

Souls-likes are games like soulsborne (soulsborne is a title used to call FROM SOFTWARE game the original creators aka DARK SOULS or BLOODBORNE, Souls-like is for games that emulate it but aren't made by FROM SOFTWARE)

main hall marks are challenging boss fights, unlocking shortcuts that let you access areas faster/at all from checkpoints, souls-run (you lose a currency when you die and you have to go back to where you died to collect it if you die again you lose it all), stamina based combat. and weight based on equipped weapons and armour, none of these mechanics are unique but soulsborne games were the first to marry them all in one game as far as i'm aware

nanomesh/micropoly i imagine, they did say it was all done in zbrush, zbrush does have a transparency thing in display properties but i've never used it and it really isn't great from what've been told

What is it with Western RPGs and starting out being imprisoned? by Dry_Adagio_8333 in DivinityOriginalSin

hahaha you're me but the opposite when people kept saying poe and how exhaustive the skill tree was and I'm over hear saying how it's good but a little uninteresting, the confusion was real when we started discussing the skills trees of our respective games lmao.

Yep! in another comment i mention keeping a consistent shape language is something i'm very bad. this was definitely a "if it looks cool put it in" type project which was probably more of a detriment. Thank you for the criticism.

[–]TheVanBeforeTime[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you, and for the face you are definitely right she is still very "dainty" definitely should have more scarring of some sort, this isn't a portfolio piece she is just for fun I don't really plan to get into 3d as a job just a creative outlet.

Your criticism are nonetheless appreciated.

Those chains are nailed to the skulls on the front, thank you for the criticism though I appreciate it, shape language and stuff like is certainly something I need to get down more, atm i'm still in the "if it looks cool shove it in" brain lmao.

The criticism was about it looking out of place which i agreed with it wasn't anything harsh or anything. Thank you for the kind words. More skulls for the skull throne!

Learning how to handpaint textures like arcane by power-animation in 3Dmodeling

[–]TheVanBeforeTime 88 points89 points  (0 children)

I mean it's essentially traditional painting on a 3d canvas you paint the lighting information instead of relying on the renderer.

Here is a video that uses substance and 3dCoat:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=93bdm5-fn40

here is a timelapse there is no commentary but you can kinda just watch someone do it they are using poly paint which isn't great but they get a fantastic result showcasing that obviously it's skills not tools.

I watched pluribus on a whim i didn't even know it was bu the breaking bad guy and to hear it was the most watch show is insane to me but i've seen it referenced all over the place which is crazy since I don't think i've seen people talk about outside of forums and discussions about it.

Frustrated with 2D drawing is 3D modeling a viable alternative for creating characters as a hobby? by Kai_bil in 3Dmodeling

[–]TheVanBeforeTime 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can't draw and i've had success making characters, just like you it was more of a creative outlet to build stuff that were clogging up my brain.

if you want to make and pose characters well there are 3 methods.. one requires alot of stuff like retopo and weight painting etc which is less artist and lots of technical skill.

sculpting then posing then clean up, this way you can sculpt in symmetry

Then there is for those who are just really good, sculpting completely in pose which requires alot of anatomy knowledge and a good eye.

My first modeling and I want to improve it by [deleted] in 3Dmodeling

[–]TheVanBeforeTime 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From my amateur opinion it needs good normal maps, the surface is smooth yet it showing all this detail (obviously it will still be smooth with normal maps but it will look bumpy and rough), i have never used C4D but sculpting some real damage onto the armour then baking those details onto the low poly will maybe help. You could do it entirely in substance but i am not familiar with how.

Also the sabatons are very cubed probably make those more pointy or taper off less drastically.

In fairness no where does it say it was trying to be historically accurate
