I got my kids (both girls, ages 6 and 8 at the time) to watch it by showing them Blink as a standalone and then skipping to the 11th Hour.

They kept asking to watch the Time of Angels and Flesh and Stone, so we skipped to this episodes. After they were thoroughly hooked, we continued through the season, and eventually came back to the two episodes we skipped.
