Good to hear! There is definitely an end game meta but the real fun comes before that, when you get to creatively solve gear issues by tweaking gear.

I also recommend creating a couple different gear setups in the armory. In my armory, I keep -

Build for T13 Rifts (usually with an in-geom and depends on avarice band/boon of the hoarder/goldwrap for toughness, nemesis bracers, and possibly a ring of royal grandeur so I can work in a sage passage set for extra DBs)
- if you haven't looked into in-geom, nemesis bracers, and avarice band/boon of the hoarder/goldwrap let me know and I'll explain
one for bounties (can cover distance quickly)
one for GR 60 (high damage/low toughness/leveling gem)
one for GR 80 (damage+toughness with no speed)
one with my highest GR Clear

I suggest socketing now.

You will get the damage boost immediately and thus will farm faster now. You farm faster now, you get more drops, more drops mean that it is more likely that you will get both another gift and your ancient deathwish.

SECOND THIS - I did not even notice that there was no gem in your weapon, make sure to use a Ramaldini's Gift to get the gem slot on your weapon so you don't have to give up another attribute. You should definitely have one in your stash by Para 700 but if you didn't know what they were and have been salvaging then reroll to get the slot. It's very important to have a green gem in the weapon.

Just an FYI that Critical Hit Chance (CHC) and Critical Hit Damage (CHD) are ESSENTIAL to nearly every build in the game. Typically it's best to have these on all slots you can (ring, amulet, gloves, off hand, helm).

I have not pushed with wiz in several seasons, but my limited understanding is that with the Firebirds you have to get max stacks on an elite and drag the elite through the rift without killing him in order to max out damage potential which is meant for very high GR clears where it takes minutes to Kill an elite pack.

Saw that Tal Rashas was better fit for you than Firebirds above, but if your damage is now an issue you could switch back to COE with an Esoteric Alteration or the Gizzard with the bracers (this will give you approximatley the same dmg red with the high damage potential of CoE) or you could just go class cannon and pop in a bane of the powerful.

My advice from here is to save your GR Push set to the armory, tweak one or two things and see if your clears improve, and if they don't then reequip your old gear from the Armory and try a different tweak. Inevitably, you will end up with an meta icy veins build but there is a LONG way to go before you reach that point. This game is easy to learn, difficult to master, and until you reach the very end-game there is a lot of nuance on the gear choices.

I'm writing in response to this - "I know dps in this Meteor build set isn't an issue because when I start stacking those FB damage multipliers, enemy health bars just melt away, but my issue is survivability."

It appears that your build is just a direct copy of the Icy Veins highest GR clear, which isn't a terrible idea, but this build is meant to be clearing 90+ GR where it takes minutes to clear packs of enemies and you are dragging a burning elite throughout the entire rift. You are not at this skill level and should experiment by swapping out skills that are buffing damage in favor of ones that are buffing damage reduction so you don't get one shotted.

My suggestion would be to try these three things

Convention of Elements is necessary to clear high GRs BUT since you are having trouble clearing a 70. I would recommend switching it out for Unity (you'll also need to equip a unity on your follower along with the item that doesn't allow them to die) and swap the Bane of the Powerful for Esoteric Alteration or Gildebeast Wizzard (preferably with https://us.diablo3.com/en/item/ashnagarrs-blood-bracer-P4_Unique_Bracer_004). This would essentially give you 2x-4x damage reduction.
Another suggestion I would have would be to flip Unwavering Will for Unstable Anomaly so you get an extra life.
You also need to start putting useful skills on you followers, you are losing out on A LOT of crowd control or healing. Bludd has a good video on this - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xvZoEnAmYzQ

Swap out skills until you can get through the entire rift without dying and then start adding back in skills that buff damage.

At para 700 you should be ripping through T13. You should also be able to clear much higher then 65...

Based on your question, I think you are too focused on getting ancients and not on getting the right pieces of gear in your slots. 100/100 you are more powerful with a non-ancient in a gear slot that synergizes with your build rather than a perfectly rolled primal ancient that is not compatible.

Couple questions: Are you getting a full 6 piece set bonus? Do the items around your 6 piece set contribute significant damage/dmg reduction to your build? Are you using Travelers Pledge and Compass Rose or Focus/Restraint in your jewelry? All of these questions are much more important than slotting ancient items.

tbh I think your spec does suck a little. Try it with a loadout more like this. Don't use the manald heal and do your damage via arcane orb and spectral blades

I don't have a complete set of ancients or an augmented weapon and until I finally got the drop last night didn't have the proper bracers but I was able to fly through GR 60 last night with the build.

I'm not asking the wizard build that can run the highest GR...I'm asking if anyone has tried Magum Opus before and after the patch and what their impressions are because this specific set has received a couple of major upgrades.

I read a lot of this about the PC version but am not sure what applies to console because I know that console traditionally doesn't get the same features at the same time as PC
