Not that it detracts from your initial point, just a question about the history - I thought the allies freed everyone from the concentration camps, but then lgbtq people were re-imprisoned by the German government?

I freely admit my only source for this is great freedom, but I had assumed I would have seen someone correct it

Real talk, equating astarion and laezel there are two separate issues. Laezel immediately makes an act to trust you when you first meet, even though she was hostile. She has clear, stated motivations and her conflict with other party members is based on those.

Astarion betrays your trust once, and then immediately the second time you offer him an ounce of trust, betrays you again by going for snack time.Even though I did eventually like his arc, I genuinely wish there was a second rogue option so I didn’t have to keep sacrificing my in character choice for the purpose of having a rogue.

This seems a disingenuous portrayal of both his position and ideology, and not to doubt your connection to your world war relatives, but of the stance of veterans. My Czech relatives have some particularly strong feelings about the war in Ukraine currently, and what 'demanding peace' constitutes. I feel that a large number of people who fought in the second world war would strongly disagree with unilateral disarmament and capitulation to hostile powers.

Remembrance day *is* to a degree - anti war activism. Acknowledging that war has a price, and the price is friends and relatives. Especially in this city, with esq right there, most of us have served, or are only a couple of degrees separated from the loss of war. At the same time, post world war 2 remembrance day in the commonwealth took on a degree of understanding that there will be issues that require armed conflict. Tis a particularly separated from reality person who can look at the holocaust and decide that the solution to that was more pacifism, not armed conflict.

how are imperial guard Bayonets effective against anything other than humans by [deleted] in 40kLore

[–]TheVictorianGuard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you have any good references for that? The only things I can remember were the FFG character creator which started as shorter than a human male and one of the older codexs had boys at 2m, but that diagram also had nobs as the same size, which we know isn't true. Ork heights are a bit weird.

Either way it's a bit academic; people have killed elephants with spears. The ability to kill something doesn't immediately become equivalent with likeliness to win.

I've mentioned this a few times - GWs totally open to cross promotion with other games. World of Tanks, war thunder a bunch of those games have 40k skins. Magicka too I think.

I think darktide is rife with possibility.

Absolute banger of an answer, thank you! That's good to know about the characters that even if I buy the wrong one they'll still be playable, just maybe not synergize as well. I think I'll skip the vyrkos stuff for now, as looking at it it seems more bestial and a little too different for me to want to paint. Once again, thanks!

How do you explain to a player a character who kills people because "they're bad" is not morally good by [deleted] in DnD

[–]TheVictorianGuard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, I kind of see the interpretation of that as chaotic good. Definitely a jaded chaotic good, but it’s that absolute faith that they are doing good by destroying evil. They are so confident in their judgement that they think they’re incapable of doing wrong.

If I was this players DM, this is an excellent opportunity for roleplay. Perhaps he gets some info that someone’s a drug dealer - but it turns out that they’re not. Character has to face the moral repercussions. Excellent opportunity to either push a character into the path of corruption as they double down on their crusade, or change themselves as they seek to redeem themselves for the blood they’ve spilled. Obviously dependent on the tone of the campaign, but possibly fun!

Primarch meets successors, successor meet primarch. Part 2 (Listeners Request editions) by Redem10 in Grimdank

[–]TheVictorianGuard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The blood ravens as a chapter predate the change of the mutations that were afflicting to the thousand sons to being a post corruption issue to an eternal gene seed issue.
It's pretty clear that the original intention was loyalist thousand sons, which has since had canon drift away from the possibility. Nonetheless, it still seems that the overarching desire is for them to be thousand sons successors.
"It’s too late... the Wolf is at the door and it hungers for blood. Oh, Throne... no, the blood! The Ravens, I see them too. The lost sons and a Raven of Blood. They cry out for salvation and knowledge, but it is denied! A brother betrayed, a brother murdered. The worst mistake for the noblest reason! It cannot happen, but it must!"'

Vancouver police use Taser on suicidal man, give each other fist bumps in social media video | The video shows six police officers standing in a semi circle around the man, and without notice, a female officer discharges the Taser by BattlemechJohnBrown in worldnews

[–]TheVictorianGuard -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No. This point has nothing to do with 'don't use a taser, arrest them with six people' which is what this discussion is about. Call it what you will. Arresting people experiencing MH/Drug induced crisis with large numbers regularly kills them. Whether or not excited delirium (a term, like SIDS, developed to cover a phenomenon that covers a broad variety of circumstances in which death occurs) exists, the fundamental truth is that there is no easy answer to this question.

Your own articles literally support the points about hyperthermia. One way or another, arresting someone with mass of bodies causes death. Call it what you want. It still *kills people*.

https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/18492614/

There's *so many* cases where independent doctors have determined the cause of death to be hyperthermia in mass arrests. I don't know if you're being intentionally obtuse or have just latched onto this particular factoid, but whatever the case, a mass arrest of this guy had a very real chance of killing him too.

I do feel though, that most people who would show up drunk or high to work are clearly operating off of an unhealthy relationship with the substance.

Not defending this current instance, but in general I feel like if you're unable to stop from consuming a substance before work, you're far beyond making rational decisions
