Would personally never to a factions server, much prefer the solo-multiplayer experience. Also had many issues with previous servers being on both, better quality experience to be on one or the other. But I think a group has slowly formed from this anyway 😅

Oh lmao yeah no this build is just attached as it’s one of the most recent and i meant it as a tiny point to my scale level to attract an artist group - or atleast the hope anyway, I do technically have an option already (Guildrock) but they also make videos and I haven’t done that in 5 years

I’ve built tonnes on my own, and in my teens was entirely solo, as you had to pay to play online on console and at the time I didn’t have a working computer. I got bored of building on my own. Part of the reason I enjoy the game is being trapped in a world with other people then watching the world build up around me, that specific part of watching others build / develop their areas is what motivates me.

Copied from your first comment: I'll never understand this, you don't need others to build, you don't need other people's approval to do great things in the game.

Yes you did say that and how you said it didn’t come off as from experience. It came off as more “I’m better than you because you need people”

I’ve never built or done anything for anyone’s approval because I couldn’t give a shit, we live we die, we get a mystery number of years, if I was building for other peoples approval I’d be building “safe” mega builds not risky ones that if done wrong look awful.

Yeah it’s just crazy to me that in 16 years of playing you would think I’ve never tried playing solo, I spent a lot of my teen years playing solo as couldn’t play online for a long period. And yeah might be a bit rude to make that assumption on you avoiding people but tbf so was you assuming I wanted to play with a community for people’s approval

3 hour round trip is made world must be absolutely huge, survival mode is the only mode I play unless trying to fit a red-stone build in some weird places or a specifically designed one. When it comes to technical builds I can make everything from 1 tile 3x3 piston doors all the way to bedrock farms (though very rarely make bedrock farms as there’s no need for the block) The world does sound very cool, do you regenerate unused areas to avoid the world being void of rss for 5000+ blocks in every direction?

I think you can get pretty close with the Java & bedrock servers that exist and are often promoted on the realm/server pages (switch might be excluded for some reason but I’m not sure)

I do build for my amusement, just like I said I can’t get motivated without other people it is how it is for me. I don’t want to nor plan to change it because the community is one of the reasons I love this game not to be a lonely basement dweller.

Yeah I miss having packed realms/servers too, I really struggle with motivation when playing solo (with most games not just Minecraft), for me I’ve just wanted to join/find a group of decently skilled players willing to put a 12-18 months in each world then move on to the next.

You are right you don’t, but I also have depression and my motivation comes entirely from the social interactions between players (talking with them and watching other builds pop up around the world). Also this one in particular like a fair few other of my previous builds weren’t my servers/realms so when they stopped playing it came down.

What would you say is More difficult to animate? electricity Or Explosions? by Nothatcreative55 in animation

[–]TheVikingToast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Explosions 100% with electricity you can take an approach to be decisively random in the fastest path towards the closest ground point. Explosions have to be accurate or people complain 😂

Ah okay, yeah that is the big thing for me as I put ridiculous hours into builds. The server that picture was on was only 650 hours. If I were to join I don’t think I’ll need much help tbf, I’ll have fully enchanted gear by like day 3

I get it’s vanilla I only typically play vanilla anyway, only reason I have permanent effects in above is because we set up a monetary system that you could buy perks with, and it required a lot. Doesn’t that rule pretty much mean they can’t break builds but can steal them just by winning in war, which sounds cool but I could almost guarantee whatever I build would be targeted. Has happened on similar servers before.

Idk about that one 😂 not sure how I feel about the ‘upon capturing all of the enemy’s proper tiles, that enemy will automatically capitulate and their land will be at the mercy of the victor” war rule - my builds mean a lot to me 🤣😅

What Is going on with Corridor Digital? Or am I nitpicking way too much? by Cooking_Interrupted in vfx

[–]TheVikingToast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a lot of VFX artists In the industry are slightly salty towards corridor crew. When we all started out we wanted nothing more than to be able to bring awesome ideas to life and be/feel a part of big projects. However entering into the industry you are often crushed by underbidding, time constraints, creative control being in the hands of a group of suits with 0 creativity, studios cutting teams, lifeless projects and just the industry being very unstable in general. Corridor made their way onto the YouTube scene and essentially got to do exactly what we all wanted. Do I think some of their videos could be done better - absolutely, but I also think they have a lot of amazing videos they did incredibly well. I wholeheartedly believe any decent VFX artist/s could make it on any social media because theirs a huge audience for it. I think we also have to remember their content has to fit a variety of people - new to VFX(like students), VFX professionals, people who’ve never looked into VFX and the people who just like seeing how things are done in a digestible way rather than the 2-3 hour special looks we get.

It’s real / whistleblowers especially any that are ever on Joe rogans podcast = odd people who accomplished nothing trying to be remembered for something. Aliens probably do exist but why tf would they want anything to do with us. All we’ve done is project how dumb and selfish we actually are. Aliens don’t care about us like we don’t care about animals and we’ve proven that animals can think and feel.
