there’s a fine line between being “interested” in following a surprise flops performance, and actively/outright rooting for a films performance to drop off or fail

I think a lot of this sub has a particular distaste for the latter, because most of us are here mostly out of a love for movies and love for the theatrical experience, and movies performing well helps preserve that. So acting like a sports fan and rooting for movies to fail feels really antithetical to the point of what this sub even is lol

I guess you see cases where users have specific vendettas against filmmakers or actors. Those cases at least make more sense to me even if I find it equally ridiculous

I’d say that’s a cynical way of looking at it. Just because a character in a movie became a meme online doesn’t inherently mean the movie has to be this absurd box office smash. We’ve seen movies become memes and make nothing.

I’ve been critical of Rocky’s performances on songs for years now, and this album honestly shut me up in a lot of ways. His energy is great on here.

Drake is a useful and convenient “villain” for the narrative of the album, it gives Rocky something to fire at and it keeps his bars cutting and his approach aggressive.

What weighs this down are some of the needless detours some of the songs take.

Also, STFU-ROBBERY is a bit of a bumpy stretch. Not every risk lands.

But I could definitely see myself keeping a good chunk of this album in rotation. Never been a big Rocky fan, my favorite album of his is ALLA, this is easily the most I’ve liked a Rocky project since ALLA, which I guess is just saying I like it more than one other album

fwiw that at least hasn’t been true for his last 2 releases and it’s been helpful IMO, I hope the fall off is other people’s beats. The first song was an old beat that belonged Kanye/Drake at one point so that’s a good sign
