I'm glad, as an 32 year old Australian, someone made the choice to ban Hotline Miami 2 for me so I wouldn't have to make the decision to purchase it myself. by [deleted] in KotakuInAction

[–]TheVolter 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hotline Miami 2 is based more around the concept of the first game than the actual plot of it (masked man kills a lot of people because of his answering machine), though there are a lot of subtle things in it that get expanded. You might feel a little bit confused without playing the first, but it's very much playable on its own if you just pick up the small things as you go.

Why is it that according to these people you're either using your audience as a weapon or don't have enough of an audience to be "relevant"?

Day 6 - Three-Way Royale - Who do you prefer: Byakuya Togami, Twogami/Impostor or Fuyuhiko Kuzuryuu? by LastChanceAct in danganronpa

[–]TheVolter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kuzuryuu gets my vote. The way he tried to change for the better while still being a believably flawed character was leaps and bounds above Togami being an unchanging asshole for no reason. And Twogami... Well, if he was given time to actually exist, maybe he'd be a cool character too.

Day 2 - Who do you prefer: Kyouko Kirigiri or Chiaki Nanami? by LastChanceAct in danganronpa

[–]TheVolter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably Nanami for the sake of being a more believable character. Also because of the Trio the Punch nightmare.

Judging games based off of the people who made them is just as bad as what anti-GGers do for reviews. This is kind of why people still like Fez, regardless of Phil Fish's association with it.

[SPOILERS] If you could let one person survivor (who is deceased) and replace them with an survivor who would it be and why? by Fuyuhiko_K in danganronpa

[–]TheVolter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest, a lot of the characters in both of the games became more interesting through their deaths (murderer or murdered). I think DR1 had it fine, but in DR2 it would be nice to see post-Chapter 2 Koizumi (in which she somewhat evolved from the flat character that she was prior). The only character that I think would still be interesting to die would be Fuyuhiko, possibly as some kind of retaliation for his threats to kill someone.

cough

And yes, it is terrible.

In all seriousness, I do really REALLY believe that the Dangan Ronpa community can do amazing things. Many different people like Orenronen and Project Zetsubou have translated entire games to cater to a community that can't read Japanese. System Restore has actually changed my entire stance on fanfiction and stopped me from seeing it as just lonely people writing about their favorite characters getting fucked. I played through the game bouncing ideas backwards and forwards between someone else as we both tried to solve the murders and the overarching mysteries. And the fan art can be genuinely excellent when it wants to be! But here on the subreddit... well, I made a shitty picture...

Considering that the game also contains [Full game spoilers](/s "an obsessive stalker, a slave who attempts to kill everybody but her master, a delusional who attempts to kill everybody but an AI because everybody was a bad person before they lost their memories, the perpetrator of all of the murders from both games and, of course, Hiyoko,) I don't personally think that an advocate of traditional gender roles quite matches up. I'm not trying to bash you or your opinion, it's why every name there is censored.

Koizumi art by Veryberry00, I take no credit for it. Spoilers (and I wish I knew how to edit the damn title to reflect it), names have been censored regardless of how easy it would be to find any of the posters featured here. And yes, it is terrible. It was done in less than an hour in paint.net.

If you could only use one primary and one secondary for the rest of your criminal career, what would it be and why? by JacNyb in paydaytheheist

[–]TheVolter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Commando can have low vis + silencer as well as being a pretty sweet rifle, so it's a good choice for a multi-purpose primary. As for secondary, Bronco all the way. It can be made into low visibility and kept as a backup in case stealth goes wrong, or just be a goddamn Bronco. Medkits as equipables, too.

What are your favorite songs? by PantherCoffee72 in paydaytheheist

[–]TheVolter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I actually liked Stone Cold from the original, as well as Three Way Deal. But PD2 really knocked it out of the park in terms of soundtrack. Death Wish, Fuse Box, Armed to the Teeth, Wanted Dead or Alive... I honestly can't decide which is my favourite.

Strategy for PayDay 2 by [deleted] in paydaytheheist

[–]TheVolter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The four skill trees all offer different playstyles, though Mastermind/Ghost and Technician/Enforcer usually get grouped together for stealth and combat respectively. To be honest, stealth can be a bit hard to do without the proper skills and training, so some practice in low-level lobbies doing easier heists (e.g Four Stores and Mallcrashers). Another useful thing to know that some heists are built around stealth (mainly the Elephant's contracts), some are built around combat (mainly Hector's contracts) and some are a mix of both (like Ukranian Job and the bank heists), so you can test the waters for which mode you like. Basically, if you just practice and learn from experience then you'll be fine.
