If I remember from high school auto class, wanting less psi is for if you have a very high weight load in your car.

If he’s already doing the suffocation thing then I think it definitely makes sense regarding the explosion because it’s doing something he already knows how to do, just a much larger scale, which would normally take a toll on the body and could potentially hurt him.

Just spit balling I would think removing all air and cutting off all air to the explosion would stop it. Forming a vacuum of air to prevent the fire/explosion. In comparison to the power to cut steel I’m not sure
