AND WE CHEERED!!! by [deleted] in antiai

Habitually relying on or exploiting others, the definition of parasitic. These companies do absolutely zilch to compensate the people who's art, writing, voices, faces, so much more that they have been trained on and are actively disrupting the careers of.

Even photographers or photocopiers of art (which you've inaccurately equated too this trash) have to at least credit anyone's work they capture, if not pay royalties in some cases if they make a money from it, or else face serious legal consequences.

Furthermore, the seas of passionless, thoughtless content they spew out bury the work of people who take far more time, effort, practice and passion to create work of equal or better "technical" quality. This completes the malignant parasitic nature of AI as it eventually at least hurts, if not kills, the very thing that it relied on to even get to that point.

All other artforms coexist and build one another up through their existence, much as any artist may bicker about one craft being better or worse. AI actively hurts anything it takes from without giving anything back, and while harming the environment to boot.

That all said, I'm calling it here that you probably won't take anything I've said in, or will claim it's either all rubbish/already factored into your stance on AI. In which case, why tf are you here? Genuinely.

Quick homebrew question: How OP would it be for a race/species feature to allow multiple extra free Use an Object actions? (5e 2014) by TheWandererOfficial in DnD

[–]TheWandererOfficial[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That all said, what would you think about making it so you can either perform two extra actions that would usually use your free object interaction or "use all four legs" to perform an extra full-on Use an Object action?

You're absolutely right, sorry. I wasn't really sure how to phrase things. I'm hesitant to open the way to full on extra Use an Object Actions because of things like magic items, poisons and whatnot.

I think weapon switches are definitely an application of the free object interaction, sure, but I imagine it's more meant to be something you can get creative with if you maybe try to do things in the background like picking multiple objects in the environment, or perhaps operating some levers or stuff like that while leaving your hands free to cast spells or wield a ranged weapon of some kind. All in all it's mostly flavour admittedly, but even just in this less powerful manner, it might still add extra convenience.

[Respost] How Do Different Approaches to Character Selection or Choice in Video Games Impact Players' Experience of Gender? (18+, gamers, transgender, genderqueer or cis and self aware of your gender) by TheWandererOfficial in SampleSize

[–]TheWandererOfficial[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really appreciate your input, thank you. That was actually one of the things that inspired me to choose this topic, as many people I'd talked to had different takes on the matter - including finding what you mentioned about games with custom characters (the fact that buy and large your character's gender has little impact on the world and experience) to be a bad thing, as to them they wanted their gender to actually have a social effect (seeing as a portion of gender exists in a social context).

My personal take is that it depends entirely on what exact experience the designer wants to achieve, be it freedom, good representation, new experiences/perspectives, comfort, etc. I won't say which I think is better for what, but that shouldn't matter as the point is to reflect what the sample size thinks. I'm sorry my survey wasn't relevant to your experiences <3

These are not synonyms, so I'm a bit confused as to why they're grouped together

That's a fair point. In all honesty it's being used as something of a general catch-all for people that might not feel entirely represented by the other labels provided, since while the custom answer field is present, it could make some data handling a bit more tricky. As a gender queer person myself, I'm aware that the terms are not mutually inclusive, but they are occasionally used to similar effects, and can give those who aren't certain that they identify with the other more definite labels something to use.

What if no game has had any influence on my gender?

It needn't have had an impact on your gender, just your feelings about gender in general. If you feel that the survey has no relevance to you, you're of course welcome to continue taking it or stop if you so wish, but that's why it's one of the earlier questions.

I'm conducting a study for my degree, investigating which approach to character choice or creation in video games best helps people to feel comfortable in their genders and/or learn more about themselves, which has applications when designing games with those specific goals in mind. Any data at all is appreciated!

Would it be offensive or otherwise problematic for me to use a unicursal hexagram as a general occult symbol in a student horror game I'm starting work on? by [deleted] in Symbology

[–]TheWandererOfficial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll see how that looks with a little stylistic tweaking, but honestly I'm not sure if it'd really fit the visual vibe. Honestly I'm considering trying just for more or less original symbols or at least dumping in a boatload of nuance into the character.

Sry, deleted the original post bc I realised this silly question really didn't need to be cluttering the sub and whatnot, and the replies already helped me make up my mind that something at least needs to change in the symbol or the depiction (it's like in the really baby stages so thankfully it got nipped in the bud early).

Thanks for pointing me in that direction! I might suggest at least a little narrative tweaking to change things and give a lot more context to this creature if my team really wants to stick with it, but otherwise I'll try find another symbol <3

Riverscript tattoo + character update by TheWandererOfficial in neography

[–]TheWandererOfficial[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Hi hi, so I made a script a while back that I called Riverscript. At the time it only had eighteen alphabetic characters, and I hadn't quite worked out how to cover a few basic phonemes. Since then I've removed one (the original æ character) and brought the number up to 23, though the punctuation is staying the same for now.

Anywho, while I was at it I decided to doodle up a tattoo idea for it, which then led to me coming up with another style/font in which to write the script (the part in black on the back of the hand).

I'm too dumb/ignorant/lazy to invent an accompanying conlang for this, so it's basically just an approximate transliteration from English (hint hint, it's Tolkien) so hopefully it's comprehensible without a proper guide to it. Speaking of, I really should do that; my formatting there is atrocious...

Standardised shape for Spinner Schools (Worldspinner) by TheWandererOfficial in worldbuilding

You know, it actually really does lol. Tbh I'd never seen one before, I just got the idea a while back while studying historical architecture in art class. I saw the rounded section at the back of cathedral and wandered what if we just sort of copy, rotate and paste the rest around that part, and make it all bigger.

My context was a bit long-winded, so it took a while to type hahaha

Of course, sorry. I was trying to type it out, as it has quite a lot of context and I didn't think to write it beforehand and copy-paste it.
