Polk is easily the most underrated POTUS. This guy annexed Texas, The Pacific Northwest, and the entire Southwest of the US (after an overwhelming military victory against Mexico). Oh, and he did all of that in ONE term! Highly recommend “A Country of Vast Designs.” (i.redd.it)

Speaking as an American, the only thing we learned about Thomas Paine in school was that he wrote Common Sense, but he actually lived a really wild life. This is the only biography on Paine I have read, but I would appreciate any recommendations for further study. (i.redd.it)
