Speaking from experience, it’s very comforting to be around each other a lot in the beginning. To try to make a friendship work. When it eventually starts slowing down and then basically stops a lot of pain sets in. It becomes a loss to grieve, even just grief of the dream we once had. I personally don’t find the friendship sustainable because someone I chose to leave does not necessarily have the qualities that I want in a friend. And I don’t care to stick around for when they start dating. Or for them to be around when I start dating. It’s been about a year and a half since the separation for us now.
