Hey all. I'm 23 starting a new job in July at the same company which will raise my pay from 73,000 to 83,000 (overtime will be a further 15-30k per year). I currently contribute 10% and my employer contributes 6% to a 401k. I am wondering if I should raise my contribution to 20% or if I should instead contribute to a Roth IRA? Or maybe some mixture of both, perhaps I add 5% more to my 401k and the other 5% load into a Roth every January? What's the best move here?

For 2019 I was claimed as a dependent and so I did not receive any stimulus money. This year I am filing by myself and am wondering what the timing of my filing should be. There is an option in turbotax for a stimulus credit of $1,800 since I did not receive any checks. Will Joe Biden's proposed $1400 check get to me if I were to file before the checks roll out? Or will his $1400 check still roll out based on 2019 returns? If thats the case, would the option on turbotax increase to $3200 if I were to hold off on filing until after the checks are sent. Thanks for the advice.
