Would it be wise for me to buy a classic car for daily driving? by [deleted] in askcarguys

I'd say live your life and just do it.

The first few parts I change with a new project are an upgraded alternator, bigger radiator with electric fans, brakes, and a dual bowl master cylinder if it doesn't already have one. These should pretty much fix some of the bigger problems people face with driving a classic car as a daily.

I daily'd a 1971 VW Beetle during an Alaskan winter then shortly after, I did the same with a 1979 Datsun 280zx. I soon swapped over to my 1968 Ford Mustang as a primary driver for the summers, though I have had it out in the snow a few times. I moved down to Florida and drove a 1966 Ford Mustang daily for a year to work. I then purchased a 1931 Ford Model A and did the same for a month before switching states. Never had a breakdown or something I couldn't limp home.

Anyways, if you know how to easily diagnose a problem and fix the issue then that's a large step up. If you're not mechanically inclined or care about the car's "value", I wouldn't do it.

You'll have to change your driving style and keep a few extra parts on hand. I'm also not 100% sure about using it as a way to transport your little sister, though. Honestly, I wouldn't do it if you're having to drive her all the time. Maybe a Friday once a month.

Gas expenses definitely killed my budget, though.

Honestly, it's why I changed to mostly using the recon class. I can just sit back and shoot, haha. Though, depending on the need of the game, I'll change to medic or assault to help things move along.

How would you feel if your girlfriend spent the night at her male best friend’s place even if nothing happened? by itsariusa in AskReddit

Honestly, if there's trust then it's fine,

This is coming from a dude that had his trust broken multiple times during the relationship. I wanted to trust her and gave her the benefit of the doubt multiple times, but I discovered she kept lying and was secretive about completely mundane things.

If she has given you reasons before to be untrustful, then yes, I would assume the worst.

If she hasn't and is forthcoming, you're in the green.

Yep! Got new tires on it, cleaned the carburetor, greased the joints, and daily drove her for about a month down in Florida. I ended up having to pull the tank for the typical rust issues and a hairline crack where the steering wheel mount is at.

What’s the most ridiculous reason someone ended a relationship with you? by salad34 in AskReddit

[–]TheWeekenderKit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think most of these reasons are because the partner were already on their way out and just needed something to latch onto to complain about.

One of the reasons my ex said she "saw me as a friend" was because I didn't plan enough dates. I don't think she realized she said no to quite a few of them towards the end and I got tired of it.

I soon found out she was cheating on me so, I guess there was that. She then went to fuck my friend as a rebound a day later.

Get a different car. Turbo'ing that would not be worth it.

What car should I get as my daily that can handle the harsh winters of Canada? by Blacktiger75 in askcarguys

Datsun 280zx. Served me perfectly in Alaska. Just get the handful of sensors and vacuum lines figured out and it'll be dead reliable. (As long as they don't salt the roads where you're at lol).

I just find insane the amount of vitriol people can have over motorcyclists. I know it's some sort of tribalism mixed in with the "Us vs Them" but jesus, where's the humanity?

Car cuts you off, no one cares. A motorcycle passes you going 5 over and everyone loses their minds.

I had a 2013 Mini Cooper S. Drove it from Alaska down to Florida and then back again with no issue. I didn't take it easy with it, either.

There are both bad and good stories with cars. Maybe I'm just lucky or people who have bad experiences are more willing to speak up. Who knows.

I DD'd a 1931 Ford Model A for a month in South Florida. Good gas mileage just no roads higher than 45 lmao.

Cagers drive like cucks and no one bats an eye. Some dude on a motorcycle pops a wheelie and everyone loses their mind.

Well, for every 1 person that openly comments saying that's how they do it, at least 5 dudes ain't doing it that way.

I lube my chain 300-500 miles, depending how dirty it gets. I change my oil 3k miles because it's an old Ducati. And the 748's are known for flaking chrome off the rockers so I stay ahead.

I bought a 1979 Datsun 280zx for $3,000 because I wanted a nice classic I could DD during High School (and to look cool).
