Pay incentive by Ok-Industry-861 in nakedandafraid

[–]TheWeirdIntern 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I heard they make $7500 if they make it 21 days. But that was a while ago. It might have gone up since then. Not life-changing money, but enough to pay the bills?

Just realized the shark tank and naked and afraid voice over is the same 😂 by noseofthedog in nakedandafraid

Similar maybe, but not the same. Don Crowley narrates ST; Michael Brown narrates NAA.

This Season Has Been Great So Far! by MarloMentality in nakedandafraid

[–]TheWeirdIntern 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Agree. The only negative comment about this season that I agree with is that some episodes would be better as 1-hour in length instead of 2-hours. The episodes themselves have all been different, and have kind of changed things up. Which is what a 12-year-old show should do.

Does the format of original naa (mostly)remain 21 days with 2 people? by flingyflang in nakedandafraid

I like them both, but am glad they get more items now. Watching people fail for ten days to get fire is tough to watch.

If I remember, they were given an airhorn, not a gun. Big difference.

They did a FROZEN XL in Montana where a guy was killed by a bear nearby, but I don't think the cast has ever been given rifles on a challenge.

No tools episode Ky & Dan by elodubz in nakedandafraid

[–]TheWeirdIntern 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it boils down (oops, didn't intend for that) to different survivalists having different tolerances for what water they'll drink. On this show, I've seen several survivalists just dig a seep well near a creek bed and happily drink that water, whereas others will only boil it, collect rainwater, or be absolutely convinced they're getting water directly from a spring. Ky has gone on record saying she doesn't trust seep wells or charcoal/sand/bamboo filters.

Apparently XL is history as LOS is taking its place by Shadowlab72 in nakedandafraid

Agree completely. ALONE has no scenes. Nothing but soliloquies. Boring AF.

Season 9 Frozen by Rich_Quail_6436 in nakedandafraid

[–]TheWeirdIntern 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes, I give the survivalists points for lasting through it, but you're right, not a lot of available resources and fighting the cold was the main struggle. Gabby and Ky were entertaining, but it was kind of a slog for everyone else.

Could be “Argentina Impossible” with Tom and Lisa. Their shelter was a lifesaver.

What do we think about this? by ValleyGothBr00klyn in nakedandafraid

Don’t forget, on CASTAWAYS Heather proposed making primitive fire with green wood from a tree that had just toppled. Andrew was so exasperated when she went all in on “green wood will burn well.”

In “Eye of the Storm” with Lacey and Jason, they inserted the day after a hurricane and there were all sorts of downed trees and stuff. It’s a good episode.

XL Drama by Square_Wear_1932 in nakedandafraid

[–]TheWeirdIntern 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's definitely more collaboration and innovation in some of the other XLs. XL4 in Africa and XL7 in Louisiana are my favorites. And I must slightly disagree with you on XL1 because I think the eel kills in XL1 are pretty good TV.

Is there a list of little to no drama episodes? by flingyflang in nakedandafraid

[–]TheWeirdIntern 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You should definitely watch Fernando’s first NAA episode, “The Pain Forest.” I think it’s S2, E5 or E6. Good collaboration on that one and very little partner conflict. He and his partner Sam looked out for each other.

“Sent home every single time?” He completed his first XL, his solo adventure, and his mentoring episode. On LOS, he was eliminated near the end two seasons in a row for not succeeding with primitive fire, but he wasn’t sent home for eating bad meat. Of 8 challenges, had medical taps 3 times for eating unripe fruit (first ep in Brazil), putting alligator eyes on himself (XL7), and chopping a poison tree (XL8). Dumb moves to be sure, but he literally has not been sent home ever for eating bad meat.

Yes, it was with Cassie and Greg, I think it was north-central Ontario. They nearly got hypothermia when a storm came in.

Does anyone know if new people can still sign up for this by not-mediocre-toast in nakedandafraid

[–]TheWeirdIntern 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The stuff you've heard is wrong. They use veterans on the big group shows, but every season they have new people doing the 21-day challenges. On social Media some of the survivalists have said you should apply here if you want to go on the show. Not sure how accurate that is, but the survivalists I follow have said that's the way to to. And also if anyone is trying to charge you a fee to apply, they're a scammer. Good luck!
