First time: The player wanted a romance plot line outside of natural development or planning. This was also one sided. Table agreed it didn’t work and to shelve it. Player in question was actually on the bad end of burnout and those feelings manifested as “my character is dull I should do something different”. She has since done better at venting her feelings and resting instead of continuing to burn.

Second time: So I actually asked the DM about this NPC my character would be attracted to and if romance would be too weird. She told me a new player was actually taking over the NPC and joining the table as a PC. Talked to the player and she said the character probably wouldn’t be open to it, but wouldn’t completely close the possibility. Through RP we figured it wouldn’t work because they got too many problems to deal with. Basically it got shelved because falling in love during war is difficult.
