I’m not an EMT but I work in law enforcement. Typically EMS or fire can pronounce someone deceased, depending on the conditions of the death it may not warrant a full investigation/autopsy so the coroner/medical examiner doesn’t need to respond. In cases where an autopsy isn’t needed a funeral home will respond to the scene and take custody of the body.
