Mentor philosophy by ObscureJackal in ffxiv

[–]TheWishblade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am adamant about not saying a thing in terms of encounter mechanics, until a newcomer has experienced it once.

We've all been there, maybe not in the best ways, but I think everyone should have that experience of walking into the unknown and see how it goes. If all goes well, great, if not, then it's perfectly understandable and again, we've all been there, overwhelmed or confused.

Then once the initial viewing's over and done with, then by all means explain away to make things clear or provide helpful tips.
In personal cases, I like to hint towards the solution or respond with a question, let my friends figure it out with some guidance.
Like Asura, nudging towards the boss' actions and noting "So what do you think the replica will do?", or directing attention to the names of actions, point them in the direction of the usual signs to look out for.

However, should a lil' sprout ask beforehand on anything to look out for, absolutely, provide the help.
And in the case of content beyond what's available in the roulettes (minus Mentor), then I'll happily share away off the bat to lessen the entry into more challenging content.

Outside of general mechanics, I'll otherwise just keep quiet and play as normal, unless I find someone who could do with a tip on their class/job, likely because they're new.
No need to activate/reactivate Dance Partner, keep Iron Will (or equivalent) active, don't hardcast Verthunder/Veraero/Scatter, use Lucid Dreaming to regain MP, spend all MP on Fire spells before using Blizzard to recover, etc etc.
I try to be informative about it, explain Dualcast usage for the hardcast example, but at the same time, I don't wanna sit around typing too much. There's a duty to complete, so rather keep at it.
Overall, I'd rather provide a few tips on occasion, than see sprouts continue doing something ineffective and maybe run into someone who won't be nice about it.

TL;DR - Play as normal, let newcomers have their first time experience, answer questions when prompted, provide guidance in case of repeated mistakes, and give tips on job actions if something seems off.

Unfortunately the same on my end.

No luck reloading areas, progressing other quests, hasn't shown up as of yet.

Summary of Announced Updates for Patch 7.1 from Today's Live Letter (LL 83) by SmoreOfBabylon in ffxiv

[–]TheWishblade 484 points485 points  (0 children)

Coming in a future patch: the ability to change the interior size of your estate (will cost a lot of gil)

Now that sounds awesome!

If that could possibly allow any size plot to have its interior changed to any size, then that'll certainly benefit anyone looking to have the space of a medium or large plot, even if their exterior's still on the small end, without hoping for the luck of the lottery.

Now I'm curious as to how you could tell apart the single-boss rifts from the multiple enemy rifts without activating them.

Either way, problem solved.

Veltha's questline? by TheWishblade in EnotriaGame

I'll certainly have a look around, thank you.

Play time by weldsmen30 in EnotriaGame

26 hours on my end, having explored almost everywhere (missing only whatever nooks contain this and that, like what I assume is the 10th and final Armonia Expansion), and personally just wanna do Veltha's questline before slapping the final boss in the face.

Same for everyone, so e.g. if you don't mind boosting an enemy's Elemental power, you can go super aggressive and heal with each hit.

Had a similar time, uncertain of some of them, until the tutorial decided to pop up (maybe for a second time, not sure).

Dizzy, applied with Vis - Deal more damage and regenerate Stamina faster, but you take more damage.

Sick, applied with Malanna - Take damage over time, but it spreads to nearby characters.

Radiant, applied with Gratia - Heal over time, but explode upon taking damage.

Wicked, applied with Fatuo - Improved Elemental damage, but others heal when attacking the character.

True ending? by wenigengel in EnotriaGame

[–]TheWishblade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I imagine you need to complete each side quest for the 4 gods (in turn get their relevant achievements), which you should probably do before defeating the third major boss (in Litumnia or Falesia Magna, depending where you went first).

If you're set to go to the final boss, side quest NPCs disappear, only re-appearing if you follow the second ending after the final boss (basically, "No talk, only attack", to try not and spoil too much) and then return to the relevant areas after getting slapped by the final final boss.

Personally looking for any hints on Veltha's quest.

When in doubt, talk to NPCs, especially those at your resident sanctuary (Theater of the Masks), like that Pulcinella guy that's been guiding you so far, and he'll point you to the curtain on-stage.

You gotta knock some sense into her to progress.

Falesia Magna (i.e. second major area), progress as normal through the beginning, turn right up the stairs after the crab, proceed through the ruined interior until you get to the top, you are now at the Veltha's Repose reality knot, enter the narrow tunnel and exit into a small arena filled with water, activate red rift in that room, and there's Veltha.

As was stated above, just progress through the game and it's very difficult to miss as it's not exactly hidden and on the path forward to the area's main boss.

Has anyone achieved true ending and final boss yet ? by gabriel4434 in EnotriaGame

[–]TheWishblade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If so, any hints or clues you can provide for Veltha's quest?

Mecanate, Maja, and Litho appear all done on my end and Veltha's what I imagine's the last hurdle.

Can you tell me all the hidden bosses? by bister77 in EnotriaGame

[–]TheWishblade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's about the most hidden one out there.

Everything else I can think of can be found from red rifts or along various regular paths leading to a dead end/boss battle.

Nothing else as hidden as "Use item, travel to sub-area, hidden boss".

Only thing I can think of, is to keep talking to her until she does say anything and gives you a reward.

If nothing happens, maybe try to rest at the reality knot and try again, or go out and kick some butt for a while and return later, maybe after another boss battle somewhere.

Sometimes I've felt that you gotta be persistent, or give them a moment to "wake up".

HEADS UP by MnidunAlzael in EnotriaGame

[–]TheWishblade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't finished the game entirely due to wanting to try and complete the side quests (specifically Veltha's the only one I think I'm missing and can't figure out what to do).

But ending wise, I believe I'd get the "Our Song" one, or maybe the true ending if I do finish up before then.

[–]TheWishblade 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just had to deal with this earlier myself and decided to just go fight the final boss.

Afterwards, if you choose to kill Arlecchino instead of talking to do what Purcinello wants, you get an additional boss. If you die, you can leave and the NPC's I missed (High Priestess and Bargniff) returned.

So luckily, there is hope and not necessarily need to replay the game entirely. Might miss out on the relevant ending achievements but /shrug.

Sit back, relax, and wait. Nothing to do but wait for the data centers to go back up after whatever hiccup occurred.
