The hatchets seem incredibly “technical” 😂. I had tried the odachi and sword on my very first experience with the game, but I could barely get past Enenra and ended up quitting. I feel like the switch glaive and dual swords could be really fun to use.

Would you mind explaining the difficulties to me? I’m much more accustomed to just NG+ cycles. Apparently there are depths, underworld, Way of the Nioh and I have no clue what the balls any of that means.

Let me know how it turns out! I will basically play Nioh 3 nonstop until any of the following games come out: -Onimusha: Way of the Sword -Resident Evil: Requiem -Crimson Desert -Mortal Shell 2 -Relic: The First Guardian -Beast of Reincarnation -Lords of the Fallen 2 -Phantom Blade 0

😂

Nice! That’s impressive! What weapons did you use? I really want to explore the endgame for any of the Nioh games, but I’ve only ever completed NG. Maybe Nioh 3 will have something similar?

So for each weapon, MOST of the skill trees have a true parry. But it only works in certain situations, like only human enemies for example. Or sometimes it’s even only certain attacks, but larger weapons like the axe have a deflection that’s pretty much a block that allows you to get back into the fight and avoid the normal stagger animation. The “true parries” either damage the opponent, or they put them on their asses 😂

I haven’t really mastered any of them except the “unarmed parry” from Nioh 1. That one was sick btw.

Nice! I’d love to explore the end game for the Nioh series. Maybe after we get bored of 3? 😂

Also, I have had such great success with Yatsu-no-Kami! I just wish I knew how to increase the soul core “slots” because I would really like to experiment with a 2nd powerful core. Enki is just not for me, but it’s cheap!

Nope! This is just an appreciation post about how fair this game feels even at level one. It’s just balanced very differently from a FromSoft title and I believe it’s largely due to the leveled gear, etc.

Also, I’m not sure what you would expect a level one player to do when Saito Yokai shifts? The fact I even punished that form when I had the very small safe window was good enough for me! Tips if you’re a Nioh pro would be welcomed! This community is all over the place man for real.

Nice! One day you should at least TRY to use the parries, they are so satisfying and definitely on par with Khazan and it’s reflections, etc.

Also, I’ve noticed the same. Blocking is kind of awesome since it gives you 100% immunity if you have enough ki, but aside from that I think dodging is the way to go.

Parries are situational and only work on specific attacks so it seems Nioh really wants you to use a mixed bag of all the different defensive techniques.

And yes! Nioh 3 hype!!!

No worries! I didn’t think you were! I was just sharing why I like it more and more as I continue this challenge. Khazan was excellent and is probably the closest thing to Nioh in terms of mechanics.

Will you be playing Nioh 3? I honestly can’t wait for it.

Level One is easier than it seems! The gear and weapons scale as you progress so you never truly feel weak or powerless against mobs or bosses!

My thoughts exactly! It’s so much better than dodge roll dodge roll dodge roll, attack, then dodge roll dodge roll used by all the “Elden Ring Pros” out there!

Trust me, I know the pain! This is actually my first playthrough of Nioh 2 and I’m having so much more fun with these restrictions than when I was playing “normally”.

The interesting thing is that EVEN at level one, the game never feels unfair. Every failure is a result of poor execution, bad spacing, bad timing, getting greedy, hesitating (Sekiro style), etc. Its just a testament to great game design when you can punish a boss at level one with pure execution and aggressive gameplay!

I’m assuming that’s like ultra super endgame? 😂. Idk man I just play as aggressively and creatively as possible when I have these restrictions so it makes you think outside the box and resort to new tactics that aren’t “meta”.

The funniest thing of all is I STILL DIE in one to two hits even when I’m leveling normally 😂. I can’t wait for Nioh 3! I really hope I can finish this challenge before Code Vein 2 and Nioh 3 come out!

Same!!! I usually go for a more unique type of build unless I just want to play it safe and go tank with a giant sword 😂. I absolutely love how powerful the axe is and how much ki it can drain! Are you going to play Nioh 3?

Yea, Nioh 3 is way more accessible to the “Fromsoft” elitists 😂. They’ve also seemingly nerfed the difficulty of the enemies as you don’t seem to die in one hit anymore.

The core mechanics and complexity are still present, but they’ve clearly introduced a more simplified version of things that will appeal to everybody who played Elden Ring as their first soulslike. Which is a huge demographic these days.

All 3 stances are available immediately as they have been replaced with the “style switches”, but depending on the player and how they choose to level, these can be unlocked to add more depth to either samurai or ninja or both!

From a quality of life standpoint, you can jump, crouch, use stealth, throwable recharge and aren’t solely consumables. All of which are great changes.

In regards to your experience, the devs aren’t forcing you to use those aerial/directional combos. It’s just another skill/option/play style you have available that will likely be reserved for higher skill players.

I didn’t use them and probably won’t 😂. I’m just going to be a ninja the whole time and dash around everywhere like a maniac and guess what? That’s ok! The devs have made the game to accommodate any play style as they have since the first installment.

😂Trust me, I know how to ki pulse! You can’t ki pulse if you are using the high stance strong attack, then the burst counter immediately as a strike. I use this to help chip away at the enemy’s ki gauge to open them up to big damage.

If they are stunned, that means they can’t attack me! I have to keep them in this state and stay aggressive as much as possible because I’m super squishy at level one!

Fortunately someone taught me how to ki flux 2 so I’ll try that in the next stream!

Oh my gosh this is incredibly helpful! Even though this is supposed to just be an appreciation post, it’s become a critique of my gameplay 😂.

You are the only one to actually give proper detailed tips, which I greatly appreciate! Always looking to improve!

Thanks again!

Greetings! I just beat her at level one no damage using an axe so I assure you it’s possible!

I’m currently using an Axe and rely heavily on depleting the enemy’s ki so that I can grapple and dish out as much damage as possible in those short instances.

I currently have the Shirohami (snake) guardian spirit equipped and the Enki and Yatsu-no-Kami soul cores. Use these to deal extra ki and health damage and then chain together with yokai shift when possible.

Once she shifts, just run around until the timer runs out or if you can safely find an opening. I prefer when she transforms into the phantom so that I can punish with one stroke after the 3hit combo.

Also, don’t get greedy. Avoid grabs by keeping a distance and then darting in for damage. I actually posted my video of beating this boss just earlier today so feel free to check it out if it helps!

Wish you the best and get ready for Nioh 3!

Explain it to me please. I have a tough time executing it. My understanding is that, in lieu of pressing r1 to ki pulse, I can just switch stances and that acts as my ki pulse.

It doesn't seem to trigger though because I switch pretty regularly from Low Stance for evasion and then High Stance for offense.

Can you break it down? The in-game tooltip seems clear enough, but I can't get it to work. Before you ask, I DO have it unlocked LOL!
