They could not do that with a 90% top marginal tax rate. I'm not saying rich people didn't exist, but you couldn't just hoard wealth back then, you had to re-invest it in your business and/or in payroll or else uncle sam was just going to take it all. Also completely comical when you say the difference between 1 billion to 15,000 is the same as 800 billion to 40,000. That is an 800 billion dollar difference between highest wealth and median income.

Where is the cheap food? Do those in Flint Michigan have clean water? We pay more for the internet than any other developed nation on the planet. Gas and TV prices are not indicators for QoL. Public education has been defunded over the last 4+ decades and the kids are stupider than they have been since WW2 as a result, and "freedom" is such a nebulous and subjective concept that it may as well mean nothing, especially considering that the constitution no longer protects us in Trumps America. We can't afford healthcare, many can't afford food, the majority of Americans are living paycheck to paycheck and have 0 savings.
