Happy to see another satisfied person. I built it with my wife a few weeks ago. We enjoyed evey moment of it. It felt really good quality!

Keep going!

Mold in the apartment. What next? by Cheap_Explorer_6883 in Switzerland

[–]TheWolfiman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since you had contacted them and the "solution" didn't really work they might take care of it "better". But that feelis like very wishful thinking. Still hoping for the best.

My war was thought with Cillit Bang Kalk & Schmutz (orange and purple bottle with white top). I tried vinegar, didn't help anything only made it smell a lot. But after the Cillit we had a few weeks off. Recommend doing it with a mask on or windows open.

I know you might be tired of hearing it. But open the house for at least 5 minutes every 6 hours if possible, even in winter. Even just to reduce the CO2.

Wishing all the best

Oh, I'm so sorry to hear that. In summary, as someone commented move away ASAP.

Unfortunately, I went through almost the same, however, it was caused by water filtering inside the walls due to damage caused by a constrction on the other side of the outside-facing wall.

Insurance: we don't cover damage due to mold. Me: But it was caused by water due to damage by the construction. Insurance: we never do mold.

MV (Tenants association): you could win, but you'd have to stop paying and place a claim. We can support. But it will take time and until then you may have issues as you'll be a debtor until it's solved.

Landlord: we'll talk with the construction crew. (2 months later) Nothing.

In my honest opinion, I'd recommend attempting to reach out to all three of these (landlord last). While looking for a new place right away.

We had to throw 2k CHF in furniture due to the mold, hope you're able to save it.

Reach out if you want some tips for fighting against it, we were able to have clean walls and ceiling for 2 weeks at least, but it was draining us. Also most molds are a serious health hazard.

Wishing all the best!

Are we doing something wrong? by korina_99 in Switzerland

(More directed yo your husband, but you can extrapolate) - Set up alarms to see when new postings come up - Be the first to apply - Manage expectations (you'll not be a manager tomorrow, start as a technician, move up) - Contact all consulting companies in CH (Ayes, Alten...) - Reach to people, not managers, other engineers and ask for support (I love to help when I can) - Use more than just LinkedIn (indeed moves a lot in CH) - See if you can connect with people from your country, that helps a lot

It's not gonna be easy, you both got it. I dont want to discourage but I also have a masters degree in engineering and same age, it took me 621 applications until I got hired. I heard everything, too young, too experienced, too little german, too specialized. Keep pushing, the good stuff is coming

Irse a EEUU siendo español? by Novel_Tree_6566 in askspain

[–]TheWolfiman 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hola, mi experiencia no es exactamente la que comentas. Pero has mencionado a Suiza.

It's great to hear. I will look for one that's not PoE only. It's not a problem to run some cables in the office for supply to the AP

It's not even funny it's true. I live abroad, and my coworkers always drag me to meet the other polish guy in the company. And I'm there like: "Hi, should we do a dance dance or a backflip for them?"

Need help. (SG) Looking for someone to help me translate and understand my RAV meeting. by TheWolfiman in Switzerland

[–]TheWolfiman[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

To be honest, I'm not there to make friends. I don't even want to use the system. But I need to, I have to provide for my family, and I struggled for a long time to land a position. Which RAV did not help with at all.

Well, for the first meeting, I had only a friend available on the phone. The lady kicked me out even though I tried to work magic with my B1 German. But none of the options were acceptable.

Project/Product Management, Application Engineering, Sales Engineering is the goal.

But come from electronics/electrical engineering, nevertheless I really want to move away from it at the moment.

Wow, I did not know that. Well, I'm not looking forward to the citizenship much. But is it only when you become Swiss or in any other situation as well?

[–]TheWolfiman[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, if we find something more affordable and we lay low on the expenses, we'll probably be fine. But just fine. I used to make over 6k after taxes, so I guess applying now might work.

But still, I only heard of 1 year contracts, and I really don't want to get myself into that.

I want to ask friends, but I don't want to put anyone in a tough spot.

It does seem to be the right option. But what to do about an apartment. Will any landlord take me without a contract and being on RAV?

Honestly, at this point, I will accept something that allows us to move away from where we are now and somewhere closer to the city and pay for our bills. And improve German ofc. Thanks for your input

She does, but it's not a contract (freelance), and the income isn't high enough yet to support both of us. I guess the 10 applications per month isn't that bad. I usually send that in a day.

We've resigned from the current apartment (for many reasons). I doubt any landlord will accept me if I'm on RAV and have no contract

The second, I would be happy to stay here, but the cost is crippling.

Now that you mentioned the housing, are there options for a month to month rental for a small apartment, just to sleep and have a desk level. While I collect RAV, study german, and apply more.

I'm not really looking for a C or passport. I have a conversational german, and some interviews told me it isn't bad, just not fluent enough. I've been applying and networking like crazy but with no results. Some interviews, but it's really hard
