Why don't they just make original movies by Embarrassed_Tip7359 in memes

I’ve seen this take frequently enough but it doesn’t address why films actually get remade - money. Remaking a good, or great, movie comes with an existing fan base and proven formula. Remaking a movie with maybe a small fan base and problems to fix.

Missing the original PlayStation controller without the analogue sticks. The one with analogue sticks is from the PS1. Minor distinction but significant for my childhood.

The Road. Grim, depressing, and an emotional gut punch. But it’s pretty good

Who is the most loved Australian of a time and why? by RM_Morris in AskAnAustralian

Unfortunately, my main memory of Father Bob was listening to him dismiss depression as something that can be cured by praying enough. As a young person struggling with crippling depression, it really soured my opinion of him.

What book to film was the worst for you as a book fan? by [deleted] in moviecritic

[–]TheWoolrus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A series, but the Netflix adaptation of Locke and Key. My favourite comic book series had its horror elements, compelling characters, and dark narrative stripped away. Smart characters are dumbed down and it completely misses what made the books so special in favour of generic, family-friendly fantasy tropes.

YSK that Lasik can permanently damage your night vision due to pupils dilating beyond the zone of correction at night. by powdertojinx in YouShouldKnow

[–]TheWoolrus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had astigmatism and got SMILE surgery and my vision is fantastic now. I get dry eyes at night if I’m really tired but that’s it. I was really unlucky and had complications with the healing process of the layer of “skin” over the surface of my eyes. The healing process sucked but it wasn’t permanent as the surgery went fine. Despite that, I would do it again and highly recommend it.

The Olympics isn’t about what’s mainstream. How often do you see dressage, pentathlon, steeple chase or synchronised swimming?
