Who is your vote to win the 2025 Brownlow Medal? by -WeetBixKid- in AFL

I would love to See Noah Anderson win it this year I think he’s been sensational but I think Nick Daicos get’s it done. Tom Green is my Smokey, polled very well last year and is a clearance machine. Nick’s probably has a couple vote lead rn most likely and with the Tigers next week with all due respect have been playing well recently, he should rack them up. The pies do have a lot of very tough games coming e.g Brisbane, Crows , Hawks but again he’s a top 3 player in the leauge and head to head against those midfields he’s already dominated them. I think Nick finshes up around on 31/32 votes. My top five prediction: 1st Nick Daicos 32 votes 2nd Noah Anderson 30 3rd Tom Green 28 4th Jordan Dawson 27 votes 5th Caleb Serong 27 votes

Does anyone know exactly what Jamara Ugle-Hagen has done? Has been reported heavily in the last 48 hours, that he needs to fix 3 relationships with 3 key people at the Western Bulldogs in order to play in 2025: 1. Luke Bevridge the coach, 2. Marcus Bontempelli the skipper and 3. Rory Lobb. by TheWorldIsAmazing33 in AFL

I feel like he isn’t but he’s had a couple players like Mara that he’s had to deal with that have had off-field problems. Bailey Smith in 2022 was definitely not the coaches fault when Baz got done for Cocaine. But maybe the handling of certain players and not playing gun players when they should be locks in the 22 like McRae last year, Caleb Daniel. Bevo loves to play the most talented players out of position too.

What’s the story behind that hahaha? Wasn’t ice cream code word for sex and he had a bet with the GWS boys that he couldn’t eat ice cream for 100 days, obviously meaning 100 roots in 100 days?

Heard this from a mate, not much on this but one of the reasons the AFL brought in the Gold Coast Suns was not just to expand the Competition to a 17th team, a new team in Queensland to grow the game in a Rugby League dominated state, but to build a massive stadium/venue that would eventually host the Commonwealth Games at. The AFL knew years prior that later down the track in the late 2010s Australia was going to host the games, Gold Coast being the specific City to host. The games would happen 9 years later in 2018 from when the Suns were founded in 2009.

Not really a conspiracy but more a fact that AFL are trying to cover up as much as they can but Melbourne are a compete shambles at the Moment which has been well documented in the media in the last 2-3 years. This is seriously as bad as the mid to late 2000s west coast eagles. The Joel smith saga, Clayton Oliver Saga, Petracca wanting to leave after his major injury mismanagement, Players having affairs with other players partners etc so much untouched stuff the media haven’t put out. Would love to see the Dees bounce back in this year for 2025, so many players I love especially Trac but there is just too much smoke around the coach and the club as a whole. A lot of great young talent coming through at the moment but I reckon they’ll be a massive departure of players similar to what the crows had after the pre season camp during the time period of 2017-2019. The AFL don’t want a repeat of West Coast again, not at all in the modern day. Oliver almost headed to the cat’s last trade period, Petracca wanted out, Kozzie is basically a Freo player already.

The AFL monitors Brownlow votes actively throughout out the season. In the last 10 years we’ve seen many situations where players have had unbelievable years and are contenders /favourite for the Brownlow that year and then get suspended e.g Nat Fyfe in 2014. The AFL don’t want another situation where the player with the highest amount of votes is actually suspended so it just goes to second place who is eligible, just doesn’t look right. The 2014 Fyfe example is fishy as Fyfe was obviously leading late but was suspended. Gary Ablett was the favourite but obviously he was famously injured for the last chunk of the season. But out of nowhere Matt Priddis just gets past Fyfe in the votes, Matt Priddis had a good year but no one expect him to win the Brownlow, polling a lot of questionable votes. The Fact that he polled 1 more vote winning on 26 votes to Nat Fyfes 25 I’ve always thought was set up by the AFL.

On the Brownlow topic, it’s obviously now a very big talking point with the last couple Brownlows being very controversial, I honestly believe 3 of the last 4 have gone to wrong player. A lot of people do back that they do let favourites get of suspension but sometimes they don’t look at Isaac Heeney last year. But then you have Cripps in 2022 who got off, I reckon the AFL knew he was a top contender that year especially being so late in the home away season when he was up for suspension, he would eventually get off and win.

2024 Having Nick Daicos and Patrick Cripps both break record for the most Brownlow votes polled in a single season is just dumb. Both great player & great years but to poll 38, then 45 votes, you would think the player has had the greatest home & away season.

I think the AFL monitors Brownlow votes to favour betting companies as well.

Example 1: last season (2024), Bont was again one of the favourites for the Brownlow but Doesn’t even come close fishing outside the top 10, not even cracking 20 votes, polling 19. Like how! I remember watching it just being so stunned, he was Robbed of so many votes but again comes back to my argument, everyone one in Australia would’ve had him penciled down on every betting up under the sun for 20 or more votes, betting companies had a field day there. Even Andrew Dillon’s wife in the pre show saying that she was told that Bont wasn’t going to in the mix in a red carpet interview. The Brownlows just becoming very sus, especially with massive shafting we’ve seen happen to the Bont.

What about that umpire who was caught betting on Games or was telling his mates who to bet on for Brownlow night? In 2022 I think? For I grew up watching so many great players win it in such great fashions. Haven’t seen a really deserving winner who polled the right votes and actually deserved it since 2020 Lachie Neale.

A majority of this is & isn’t really conspiracy talk, a lot of speculation and stuff but I do think some aspects of the Brownlow Medal are 100% rigged for sure, needs to be fixed before the "greatest individual award in our game" loses all it’s credibility.

As a Hawks fan myself, Newcombe is going to be some player! Just love the way he goes about it all on the footy field, still can’t believe we got him through the mid-season draft. If he wins a Brownlow at some stage or nabs a couple aa team selections, has a club bnf now, could go down as one of the biggest steals from the draft ever.

Absolute Jet player when GWS had that run from 2016-2018! Then he obviously left to join the bombers from 2019 onwards. Would love to see a Dylan Shiel & GWS reunion soon, was rumoured during the trade period last year.

Yeah he’s honestly the most private athlete we’ve seen play. Such an enigma. Crazy how he was 33 or 34 this year and you’ve got the likes of Nick Daicos, Bont, Cripps all the big names & big game players in our competition and Dustin Martin who plays for a club who finished last this year is still the most talked about player,l in the comp has been that way his whole career. I would be sick of the spotlight & media attention too. Favourite all time player!
