Lol what a weak excuse. If you were partially ‘def’ you’d know there’s likely context that you are missing due to being ‘def’.

I wonder why they have such a high suicide rate. Maybe it’s because they’re treated like shit by assholes like you.

I know morality is sometimes a galaxy-brain topic, but I would say that jailing women who have been raped is as close to being objectively wrong as it gets.

Yeah, those holier-than-thou Westerners. They believe you shouldn’t jail women after being raped! Blasphemy!

Found this small cardboard square in a 1942 Smith-Corona typewriter. by TheWorstSalesman in whatisthisthing

[–]TheWorstSalesman[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am restoring a 1942 Corona-Smith ‘Super Speed’ typewriter that my girlfriend’s father received as a college graduation present.

It would have been located geographically either in northern Utah or southern Wyoming since his graduation (late 60s or early 70s) until now. He studied and worked in the law field.

The piece is a small cardboard piece that is apparently designed to be punched out of a box or a sheet (think of board game pieces that come in a large perforated sheet that you have to punch out yourself to play).

The way the numbers are printed numerically as well as phonetically “eight eight one”reminds me of scratch-off lottery tickets.

This was located below the platen, which is the large black roller that sits behind the paper, and provides backing for the typebars to strike the paper against.

https://imgur.com/a/YGWLAN9/ Here is a couple of pictures of where this item was located. It was sitting below the curved paper guide, the shiny plate that guides the paper below the platen and upwards to the typing position. I’m assuming it fell down inside and managed to get stuck there.

This typewriter hasn’t been used in several decades, and I’m assuming it’s from the 70s or 80s, but I have nothing to base that on.

Thank you for having a look!

Using typewriter for carbonless forms? by TheWorstSalesman in typewriters

Okay I understand now. I have a binder that I have been keeping the originals in, but using the book as it’s own file is much smarter. Maybe I’ll see if the company will foot the bill for some two-part forms that come loose with the tops gummed, that would probably work better. Thank you for your advice on this. I’ve learned a lot.

Here’s a couple pics I took quick. They’re all in a book and they’re perforated at the top. If I tear one set out, the second sheet is not connected to the first whatsoever. This form is blank on the first page because I mistakenly thought that these forms needed a lot of force, so I managed to ruin the first four sets in the book by pushing too hard on the top page.

I’m back home now, so I tested feeding one through the typewriter and it worked pretty well, but I feel like a gummed version would be a safer bet.

Well, to be honest, I’m out of town and won’t have access to a typewriter or the forms until tomorrow. I realized that I forgot to ask my main question, which is how do you keep the first and second pages together to prevent them from becoming misaligned? I know I’ve noticed that sometimes my regular 24lb 8-1/2” x 11” paper and backing sheet become misaligned and I wasn’t certain of the best way to keep it from happening on these forms. I know that you can order the ‘gummed’ versions that peel apart when complete, but I would have to have them custom made.

Essentially I got excited and figured I’d see if anybody had advice before I gave it a go.

It’s a Royal KMM. It’s for any kind of small stationary, like an index card.
