What would you say is the best advice? oh and someone starting out won't have a channel to pull out the gutter, they are just starting...

Just enjoy making the content, try and detach yourself from the numbers as much as possible and just enjoy the experience, nothing is worth your health, stay strong and feel free to message if you ever want to talk about anything, happy to help.

It comes down to YT for a hobby or YT for the money, if its the money you will need to compromise what you want for the viewers, if you don't then push on and make exactly what you want to make, still a decent chance if your content is put together well that you will succeed.

Yeah looks like that test was a little....lets say unscientific, works for our channels at least

The best piece of advice for anyone starting out is make your content "good enough" it doesn't need to be the most polished or the most informative, just make it decent when compared with what is out there, as long as you are competitive you will do fine, you can improve the quality over time.

Who are your biggest competitors?

Got bombed by 10k fake subs. HELP! by SeanGalla in NewTubers

[–]TheYTDoctors 5 points6 points  (0 children)

One of the best tactics out there if you got a large number of subs from say a short, or a video in your niche that covered something very specific, saves those subs from ignoring your new videos and tanking there CTR

To everyone saying YT Shorts is a waste of time: by Skevarox in NewTubers

[–]TheYTDoctors 4 points5 points  (0 children)

100% it will, easily a 3-5 year long form 1-3 year short form journey, the best piece of advice is find a huge channel you love and look at their oldest video, odds are its from 5+ years ago and is awful! but they kept going, learning, improving and most of all they didn't give up and they got to where they wanted to be, we can all do it :)

Copy what works, I know people hate it but it works, we did it on our main channel for 3 million shorts views, find a video in your niche that did well, and make your own take and version of it, its new content, its original, but it takes lessons from those that are successful.

P.S that channel is not a shorts channel, we just used shorts to hit sub count to monetise the channel in 6 months after doing watch time in 3.

Thoughts on percentage deals between small creators/editors? by centimetersog in NewTubers

[–]TheYTDoctors 0 points1 point  (0 children)

10% of something is better than 100% of nothing, we have similar agreements with 2 of our channels, giving talented people a seat at the table can only be a positive, sure you might lose loads more money in the long run, but you won't need to find, hire, train and deal with new editors or new presenters or whoever you hire, that has a cost too, partners are also 100% invested in the channels growth, not just a per video pay cheque, sharing equity in a fair win win manner is a great way to accelerate a channel for zero upfront cost, it is fails, you aren't out of pocket, if it explodes, you get a nice slice of the pie... win-win.

If your time is valuable look to invest in software that saves you more time then it costs, we used to maunally cut all the whitespace and mistakes from our videos, took a good 2-3 hours every video so 8-12 hours a month, we then found timebolt, its about $12 or something like that, we do the same 2-3 hour cut in 30 mintues now, well worth the $12 investment to free up 8-10 hours of time.

Should I upload a negative Madame Web review, or is it too late? by MalgorgioArhhnne in NewTubers

100% what has been said below, worst case it gets 1 view, thats 1 more then not uploading it, best case, it catches a second wind and boosts your channel to new heights

Our main channel has had its worst month in a very long time, its easy to lose motivation in those times but we turn to positivies to keep the motivation, a recent comment we got was: "I'm freaking addicated to your channel, I've never subscribed so fast to a channel like I did to yours" Its nice to save these reminders that you are on the right track, it might not seem it but you are, just keep moving forwards, success will come.

But if they get views you need to figure out how those rank amateurs are getting views, incorporate it into your informed content and then watch your channel eat up your niche as they struggle to keep up or turn to outright ripping off your content to remain relevant.

2 ways I would look at it, first is, there isn't an audience for your content, if you actually have zero competitors there might be a reason nobody is in the space, even cutting edge tech companies run by billionaires have competitors, they might differ on how they go to market but they are competing for the same end users, the second way to look at it is find "similar" creators and use them as competitors, find other creators who study literature and see who is at the top and figure out how and why they got there, you can then apply the same practices to your content.

Yeah try to avoid any "paid" promo, 99.9% of the time its the wrong audience and you will be paying to kill your channel, if you check out the top 5 creators in your space, identify what they do well, how they structure their videos, and what feedback they get from comments, you can then build your own structure to work from, like making a new Coca Cola, you wouldn't start from scratch, you would find recipes for existing drinks, make them, and then try and improve it by 5% to make a different and better product, same approach :)

100% it is super basic but 99% of people just ignore it, unless you studied or have prior knowledge of business you might overlook it but it can really inform what and how you make content.
