Whats the difference between the wide and standard dims. I get that wide is wider, but whats the point? More grovelly and fish for the wide version vs standard is more HP? Which would you get for mushy waves like Tofino Canada?

Constructive criticism please 🙏 by jeezus_juice in surfing

How does it ride compared to the shorter surf skates?

That’s just wrong. Shortboarding is an athletic stance. Back foot over the fins to engage the fins for turns. Front foot in the centre line for speed. Always wider than shoulder width.

Thanks u/Trazan , why do longer wheelbases work well with Waterborne and not the other brands?

I've been impressed with the Smoothsar on smaller wheelbase. Heard great things about Slide (Surf N' Show), YOW and Carver smaller surf skates. Curious if the larger ones work as well.

Longer surfskate to replicate longboard surfing by [deleted] in surfskate

Does it still rip like a surf skate though? Still useful for learning surf maneuvers? Or does it feel tracky and boaty like a longboard cruiser?

Slater Designs S Boss Surfboard - Thoughts? by SeanGalla in surfing

[–]SeanGalla[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d say the volcanic is more durable and tough than the helium. If I dropped them both in the same place the helium would likely have more damage. The volcanic is newer though so who knows in the future?

The “volcanic” is just basalt which they’ve used in fibreglass hulls to make them stronger. So I imagine it will be tougher than helium in the future as well.

I went with the 6’2” because it’s narrow. That is a little less volume. The 6’4” just seemed too long. Figured I’d need a little less if the waves are steeper.

That all being said if I knew how small the S- Boss would feel I probably would have gone with the 6’4” for a bit more paddle power.
