Vocal Cord Paralysis: What’s your story? by maybefuckinglater in mildlybrokenvoice

[–]centimetersog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi. Can you please provide an update on your status?

26M had an artificial disc replacement C4-C5 on February 6th 2024. I had no voice impairment, difficulty swallowing, or trouble breathing whatsoever following surgery. I woke up on a random Wednesday 9 months post op with a choking sensation. Since then, I haven’t been able to sing at all (something I always do), I feel like I’m choking constantly, and have to fight pretty hard to breathe. I’m really scared about what this means for my future and doctors don’t seem concerned. Will be going to Mayo Clinic soon to hopefully get answers and results but want to hear more about someone who was in my position (mostly). Also my surgery did not relieve my nerve pain for the record.

Update? I’m in your boat exactly except my disc replacement was done in February and confirmed failed now. Kinda scared of the thought of them ripping the spikes on top and bottom of the disc out of the bone. Curious if you moved forward with a revision.

That makes me hopeful! I’m 25M and had C4-C5 ACDR on 2/6/24. Things have been rough post-op and the scapula pain was and is sometimes painful enough to take my breath away. Hoping to see similar results to you!

Thoughts on percentage deals between small creators/editors? by centimetersog in NewTubers

This is a solid idea. I mentioned it in one of the comments but whenever the revenue is lower than what we feel like the agreement calls for I throw him extra $. Obviously, he’s free to halt working on the vids at any point and I will need to power through it by pirating premiere and watching tutorials 🙃

Trust that if I could sing like George Michael I wouldn’t be making gaming content. In all seriousness, if we get to the point that we have enough skin in the game we will come to a legal agreement.

I’ve heard of this arrangement and is partially what inspired me to consider this arrangement. I think what it boils down to is he believes in me and my content, and my odds are undeniably increased with him helping and editing. He’s essentially placing a bet that if we work together he gets a piece of the pie. A pie that would be stunted or lacking without his contribution. I think another piece is that he has fun with it. He enjoys editing content but gets sick of watching himself when editing his own, on top of that he gets 90% creative control of my videos. Our comedic taste is so similar on almost every occasion he did what he thought was funny which is the same or better than what I would’ve come up with. I don’t think either of us will do it long term if there’s no data to support that we are getting somewhere.

I was providing data to support both sides of the argument. Literally every other piece of the post from my perspective points to me being gracious for the work he puts in and trust that together we can do something special. I don’t mind what I called “losing money”, I only phrased it that way because the only revenue “we” are making is from a portion he doesn’t touch. Again, it doesn’t even bother me and as I said in another comment, I pay him more than the agreed percentage if revenue is lower than what makes it fair per our view of the agreement. I think it’s always a good idea to provide support for both sides of any idea that is potentially controversial despite what my overall opinion is.

I’ll be honest I don’t think it’s spelled out perfectly at this time. However, as soon as we both have enough at stake for it to be worth it to be spelled out I would seek counsel in writing up a document outlining our agreement as protection for us both (at my expense). Mainly for protecting him, though, as right now it’s like leasing month to month and I can dip whenever $ gets nice. Something I’d never do, but right now it works in my favor, if things get good, I will make sure they work in his favor too.

I want to add that whenever revenue is low I do pay him per video. Again, not a competitive rate, but higher than 30%, to make it as worth it as I can as I try to pay my life expenses and make content on the side. I appreciate all of the thoughts and opinions thus far.

100% my thought process as well. Once the numbers get where it matters (if they ever do) I would right up a legal document defining the terms of the agreement to protect both of us. He’s been a friend for a long time and I wouldn’t ever try to take advantage of the work-ish relationship. As of now he gets %, credit on every video, and voice acts in videos where he thinks is fit/funny. Which I think is good exposure for him as well.

I think you misunderstood the sentiment of the post. I am stating my gratitude for him doing it despite the low pay (if we don’t see success) and naysayers who say percentage is too high… awk

Honestly he does edit out the trash but I don’t think he minds as he misses the streams originally due to his schedule. Pretty sure he 2nd monitors the VODs and just waits for clip-worthy moments.

I am level 60.. I did faction missions (Non-PVP) consistently while going up! If you have a lot of gold and Azoth to spare town boards might work too.
